Recap

Bye Bye Bart.

These three words are the headline on Gossip Girl's blog, leaving no doubt as to what happened in the accident that ended the previous episode.

We open, of course, with the cast preparing for Bart’s funeral.

Lily is dealing with her Bart's death in typical Lily fashion, making lists, yelling at people over instructions. Oh, and meeting with Rufus.

They meet in Central Park, and tell each other nothing is going to stand in their way this time. Of course, Lily’s secret about her hospitalization in France is still out there - but for how long?!

Chuck blames Lily for his father’s death. He meets with the PI to find out what Lily’s secret is. The PI is driving a hard bargain and insists that Chuck pay for the info just as his father was.

At the funeral, Chuck was such a drunken mess that Blair and Nate had to help him stand up straight. She did her best to help him through it, but Chuck was not entirely grateful for her efforts.

When nothing worked and he seemed more depressed than ever, Blair did what they’ve been trying to do all season long: said the three words.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work and Chuck takes off. He tells her it’s too bad she loves him and leaves

With Dan and Jenny going to be with their mother over the holiday, Rufus and Lily have made plans to get together in Cornwall.

Serena, meanwhile, isn’t sleeping with Aaron, but their relationship is still going strong. She still obviously has feelings for Dan, though.

When Aaron tries to convince S to go to Buenos Aires with him over the holidays, Dan can't decide how hard to fight for her this time.

Serena goes to Dan to try and get him to talk her out of going to Buenos Aires, but he initially refuses to play her ridiculous games.

When he tells this to Jenny, she points out that if he plays the games, he’ll end up with Serena in the end, which is what he wants anyway.

He takes this advice to heart, but it’s too late.

They didn't work out the first two time, Serena says, and she is freaked out by the fact that she thinks their parents are going to be together soon, and she won't stand in her mother's way this time.

In the aftermath of the funeral, Eleanor and Cyrus realize life is short and decide to get married the day after. They have a simple Jewish ceremony with just family at the apartment.

Blair ultimately warmed to Cyrus and is actually looking at him like a father figure. She even asks his advice about Chuck.

After paying a hefty fee to learn Lily's secret, Chuck has second thoughts about using it against her and sets the envelope on fire.

Later, though, Chuck shows up at the Waldorfs' apartment after the wedding. Blair finds him in her room. Neither says a word; she just embraces him and they fall asleep together in all of their clothes and shoes.

Blair wakes the next morning to find Chuck gone, and a note telling her that she deserves better and not to come looking for him.

Unfortunately for Lily, her mother Cece has no such issues about making her secret known. She shows up to tell Rufus the big secret before he’s set to meet Lily for the holidays.

Rufus tells Dan that he isn't going away with Lily after all, that they will never be together. Dan desperately calls Serena but she is on her way to the airport and his call is ignored.

As the episode draws to a close, Rufus meets Lily at the train station with no bags in hand.

"I just have one question," he asks. "Was it a boy or a girl?"

Gossip Girl Season 2 Episode 13 Quotes

Serena: I don't know if I can go away right now. My family is a disaster. My brother is lonely, my mother is losing it, and Chuck has publicly disowned our family.
Aaron: Are you sure it's your family you don't want to leave, or someone else?

Lily: We're doing comfort food: nobody is comforted by a tuna tower.
