Derek plans a family dinner for Meredith, Richard and Maggie. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned when the McDream gets busy and leave Richard and Maggie to be honest with one another.

April's mom pays a visit to help out with preparations for the new baby. However, April isn't too excited and doesn't want her mom's help at all. As for Jackson, he'll take any help he can get as he spends the day with April's mom preparing the nursery.

At the hospital, Owen becomes invested in a patient when he realizes she may have served in the military. Jo is reminded of her days in high school when she was homeless.

Ben and Bailey deal with a patient who comes into the hospital for heartburn. They soon realize that the patient actually has a cancerous tumor. Bailey runs her labs and realizes that she needs to take better care of herself.

Arizona continues struggling to impress Dr. Herman. Soon after, she learns that Dr. Herman has a death sentence and will die in six months due to an inoperable brain tumor. Dr. Herman tells Arizona that she cannot tell Owen nor the board. Will she be able to keep her secret?
