• The team gets notified that Hetty is in trouble and they rush to her rescue.
• Unfortunately, Hetty's distress was faked by Assistant Director Granger, who is now going to oversee the team.
• He takes them off their current cases to look into the murder of a researcher, Brent Bolton.
• Nell goes undercover to fill Bolton's job.
• The team investigates Bolton's wife, but finds that she has unwittingly befriended a spy.
• They find a network of spies stealing secrets from the research firm.
• Before the team can figure out what is going on, Granger pulls the murder suspect out of the interrogation room and transfers him to another governmental agency.
• Granger is sticking around and threatens Hetty.
