Aria becomes increasingly suspicious of her father when she finds out that the night Ali died her father had gotten her mother drunk and sneaked away to talk to Meredith before meeting Allison. Her father's behavior becomes increasingly erratic as he steals the diary pages from Aria's special hiding place and aggressively grabs Meredith during a heated argument about his snooping in Aria's room. Meanwhile, Spencer is up for captain of the academic decathlon team after the her former rival had a biking accident. However, Mona joins the team and campaigns for the position too. After they get an equal number of votes, they have a quiz-off that Spencer, after dominating early on, loses when she becomes too cocky and competitive. Hanna spends her time getting Lucas to confess that Mona was blackmailing him into helping her since the masquerade ball and when he said he was finished helping, he was almost run down by an SUV. Hanna confronts Mona and says she doesn't trust her anymore. Emily tries to have a little fun with Paige who's unfortunately having serious anxiety issues and panic attacks since Halloween. The two girls are stranded out in the forest when Toby slashes Paige's tires. Emily pursues him, but loses him in the forest.
