All the action this week took place at the Lockwoods' masquerade ball. Let's go over what went down:

- Bonnie, Jeremy, Damon and Stefan planned to kill Katherine. With the help of Caroline luring her to a room upstairs, Damon and Stefan confronted their nemesis and had her trapped because Bonnie cursed the room with the same spell she put on the tomb awhile back: no vampire could leave.

Damon and Stefan went about stabbing Katherine with stakes, but there was a problem: Elena - who showed up at the party because she was suspicious when she didn't hear from anyone all day - felt every stab wound, as well. Turns out, a witch named Lucy had cast a spell that connected Katherine and Elena. We had met Lucy earlier, as she appeared to owe Katherine a favor and this was clearly it.

As a result, the brothers ceased their attack and pretty much just hung out with Katherine in the room. But Bonnie took action, confronting Lucy and grabbing her arm. Both witches them felt something. For Bonnie, it was that she could trust Lucy and she acted on that instinct by giving her the moonstone. She then passed it along to Katherine, but she cursed it. When Katherine got her hands on the item, she went down, paralyzed. Lucy yelled at Katherine for not telling her another witch, a Bennet no less, was around. She proceeds to tell Bonnie they are cousins before leaving the party.

- With Katherine mobilized, Stefan approaches Elena, who has now healed because Lucy removed the spell. But she isn't ready to get back together with Stefan because too much has happened and she needs to make sure her loved ones are okay. (Jenna is back from the hospital, at home with Alaric.).

- Damon locks Katherine in the tomb again, but not before she yells about how they need her to protect Elena. What does she mean? It's unclear. But the episode concludes with someone in a mask abducting Elena from the party parking lot.

- Also: Matt tries to provoke Tyler because Katherine had compelled him to do so. But a random female student is killed in their fight instead, meaning the werewolf curse is now upon young Mr. Lockwood.

I thought that this episode was another 3.5 from start to finish. The masquerade party was kind of lame over Katherine's playing little tricks to have her witch assistant connect her to Elena and have her get hurt everytime Katherine would get hurt. It was good to have Damon lock her in the tomb and teach her a lesson or two for messing around with him and Stefan. It was wrong to see Elena get kidnapped over some lame assistant of Rose which I learned from the next episode. This episode was sort of wrong but I still like watching this show very much. =) =P

A doppleganger is a look alike of a person, usually supposed to be evil. In German it translates to double walker.

katherine is saying that elena is the double ganger i don't know what that means but i'm sure thats what she said

i loved this episode. i swear this show is so good. so many plot twists.

I agree with you, this episode was kind of a letdown. It feels a little like the writers are desperate to plop in as many twists and turns as they could. 1. How the other witch was related to Bonnie? - LAME. could have been much more interesting than second cousin twice removed or whatever. i don't know how that works. 2. Sarah dying from.. hitting her head. She must have hit her head REALLY, REALLY hard. it was kind of weak how she died. 3. Other dead chick - Since I don't even remember her name, I'm guessing nobody else will either. So that's likely nobody goes looking for her anyway. What I did love about this episode, was Caroline. I think she deserves a lot more credit in this show. I love what they're writing out for her character. She gets more and more entertaining to watch.

love love it every week.......best show on tv,,,,,,,,

@katarina because he's annoying and adds nothing to the story..his girlfriends were all killed and were way more interesting than him!

No killing of Jeremy, wtf, why would u want him to die,

Love Caroline as a Vamp, she is awsome, all in control, finnally Candice has an awsome character unlike before. And it is nice that at least one girl is a cool vamp too, instead of all girls dying all the time and acting like twits. Its as if Caroline was meant to be a VAMP. love it. Bonnie and Jeremy? yeah i could see it but would preffer Bonnie with Damon, that would be sexier. And Katherine, rot

ughh hate the hints at bonnie-jeremy..just kill him already! or kill the, both and replace her with that much hotter witch..I;m glad Matt didn't die! I completely disagree with this review, this ep was jam packed! it left me even more intrigued! i really wanna know what's behind the werewolf and the dopplehanger thing, who is the guy in the mask, and how k will escape! I loved this episode, and the deaths only made it more interesting! pleaseplease kill jeremy next!

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Episode 7 Quotes

You aren't gonna kill Katherine... I am.

Tell Damon and Stefan to give me the moonstone or I will rip this town apart until it rains blood.
