Why go with a 'pretend' list when there were so many real heroes who served their country before going to Hollywood? - Audie Murphy (Medal of Honor), Paul Newman, Ernest Borgnine and many many more - all deserving of our love and gratitude. Steve McQueen served in the Marines - there are just so many. A list of 'real' actors who served their country honorably would make a far more interesting story.
This list should also include Ichabod Crane, who fought in the Revolutionary War and beheaded the Headless Horseman in battle. Captain Jim Brass from "CSI" served in the Marines in Vietnam, and Admiral Al Calavicci ("Quantum Leap") was a Navy pilot who did five years in a Vietnamese POW camp. Javier Esposito on "Castle" served with the Army Special Forces in Afghanistan. Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter from "Stargate: SG-1" were both Air Force officers, as was John Sheppard from "Stargate Atlantis". Raylan Givens from "Justified" was a Marine before joining the Marshals. Danny Reagan from "Blue Bloods" served with the Marines in Iraq, and both his father Frank and grandfather Henry also served in the Marine Corps before becoming cops. This may be argumentative, but it's worth mentioning that John Watson in particular should not qualify for this slide show as is - he's British, not American, and the slide show is about characters who have served "our country" (presumably the United States of America). If you want to get really quibbly, this should also eliminate Damon Salvatore and Bill Compton, who both were in the *Confederate* Army. Maybe the slide show should be renamed to something more generic, like "Television Characters Who Served in the Armed Forces". That way you could include foreigners like Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart ("Doctor Who"), too! And Dr. Henry Morgan from "Forever", who served in World War II. And Duncan MacLeod from "Highlander", who served in uniform during (at the very least) the Napoleonic Wars and World War I.
Brigadier General James M. Stewart, decorated bomber pilot, WWII

Ichabod Crane of Sleepy Hollow; Thomas, TJ, Rick and Higgins of Magnum PI, everybody on The A Team, everybody on Enlisted,
What about Teddy (grey's anatomy)?
What a STUPID LIST, you add ANIMATED CHARACTERS , but leave MASH, Magnum and a BUNCH of other worthy characters, BAD FORM and Epic Fail, Gibbs is the best of your list.
You also forgot every character from M.A.S.H. (army) and J.A.G. (Navy/Marines), John Reese and Jocelyn Carter (both Army I believe) from Person of Interest, Leo Wyatt (Army) from Charmed and Elliot Stabler (Marines) from Law And Order: SVU.
Right on the Money!
WTF! Three (3) cartoons made your list? hello?
at least you got John Winchester on your list....
