Emily Erin Deschanel was born in Los Angeles. She has a famous sister in the acting business named Zooey.
The actress made her big screen debut in 1994's It Could Happen to You. From there, her next notable role was in Stephen King's Rose Red in 2002; and she's also appeared in Cold Mountain, The Alamo, and Glory Road.
In 2004, Deschanel was named one of "six actresses to watch" by Interview Magazine.
Her signature role was as Dr. Temperance Brennan in the long-running FOX series Bones.
Some of Deschanel's recent roles include 12 episodes on Animal Kingdom as Angela and as Suzanne in the Netflix occult thriller Devil in Ohio.
In July of 2023, Deschanel and her Bones costar and friend Carla Gallo began a Bones rewatch podcast called, appropriately, Boneheads with Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo (A Bones Rewatch Podcast).
