The Simpsons Review: You Only Die Once

at .  Updated at .

In an effort to remain current, The Simpsons took on the popular (well, recently popular) phrase of "YOLO" this week. And you'd think it would be just a little exciting.

The Simpsons Season 25 Episode 4  was, however, another mindless and dull installment of the long-running series.

You Only Live Once

When Homer's long lost pen pal, Eduardo, returned to help him achieve his dreams, any veteran Simpsons fan had to wonder why none of the many wacky adventures Homer has had over the past 25 years weren't enough for him. The man has been an astronaut! Surely that's better than having nine wives and hundreds of children!

But the episode needed a premise and this one was just as good as any other this season (so... not very). The pair's exploits worried Marge, of course, and Homer ended up injured by the episode's end. Naturally.

Was there anything original about this storyline?

However, it was nice to see Jon Lovitz reprise his role as the demanding Llewellyn Sinclair from "A Streetcar Named Marge." This time Llewellyn's dinner theater production of The Pirates of Penzance was interrupted by Homer and Eduardo pretending to be swashbuckling pirates. It was amusing nod to a television classic.

Lisa's story was not much better. Her student-regulated honor code was clever enough, but it was a lot more of the same old plotlines involving Lisa's overachieving personality and Bart's deviousness.

At least there were some amusing The Simpsons quotes! Visit our ever-expanding section of those quips and barbs now.

The Simpsons Season 25 Episode 4 Quotes

Willie: You want me to carve it into a thank-o-lantern?
Lisa: No, this is good.
Willie: Well, this knave's got to carve something.

That sounds salty, but you seem sweet. I'm going to call you kettle corn.
