NCIS New Orleans Season 1 Episode 17 Review: More Now

Something makes we wonder if was anyone didn't see that grand "Sasha is evil" reveal coming at the end of the episode. Telegraphed much?
For me, NCIS: New Orleans Season 1 Episode 17 was one of those stories where I was impatiently waiting for the characters to catch up with the so-called plot twists that pretty much every viewer predicted six episodes ago. Let's get this ball rolling and the conversation going!
Quick recap: in NCIS: New Orleans Season 1 Episode 11 ("Baitfish"), a gala was bombed, nearly killing Pride's daughter and seriously injuring her boyfriend (the awesomely-named Orion). The case led the team to the Broussard family crime syndicate. Pride goes to one of his old informants, Paul "Baitfish" Jenks for information.
Long story short, Jenks was the real bomber, having set up Frank Broussard to take the fall.
Jenks made his escape, and Frank's cousin, the innocent-seeming Sasha, helped Pride and team arrest Frank.
I didn't believe Sasha's innocent act six episodes ago, so it was both frustrating and satisfying to see me proven right. It was actually a thing of beauty to watch her so easily manipulate Pride after the attack by prison guard Lorna, how Sasha twisted it all around to make Pride feel guilty and responsible for the attack (which Sasha almost definitely set up herself). Nice bullet cluster, indeed!
It's certainly obvious that Pride's myopic obsession with tracking Jenks down is affecting his judgment. His team is concerned about it, but still following his lead:
I'm telling you, worried or not, we keep looking.

Brody even expresses her support for Pride privately:
I'm not LaSalle, I know we don't share any kind of past. I just want you to know I've got your back.

This actually brings up something that should perhaps be addressed. How far will he go before they realize that they're missing the forest for the trees? This entire episode, it was "Baitfish this, Baitfish that." I was practically screaming "It's not Baitfish!" at my television.
To be perfectly blunt, I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn a few episodes down the line that Jenks has actually been dead the entire time.
And then there was the head-scratching DEA agent Sonja Percy, who I half-expected to be revealed as dirty. To be honest, I'm still not sold on her. Though her flirtatious exchange with LaSalle was downright hilarious. Apparently, our 'Bama boy has himself quite the reputation among the Ladies of Law Enforcement!
Also worth a good chuckle was Brody's interrogation of the wannabe in jail, who falsely claimed the murder of Frank Broussard.
There was, in addition, a pretty funny line of Pride's after he stole the card from the dead doctor's phone, about how calling it stealing would imply that he didn't intend to give it back. This quite strongly reminded me of a similar line from an excellent episode of Doctor Who: "'Borrowing' implies the eventual intention to return the thing that was taken." I wonder if there was a little geeky inspiration going on there?
I also enjoyed Loretta's gentle confrontation with Pride about his obsession with Baitfish, though I think she was going way too easy on him.
There was something about this episode that actually bugged more than I thought it would: the utter lack of mention about what happened to LaSalle's brother Cade. As you may recall, he suffered a manic episode at the end of the previous episode, NCIS: New Orleans Season 1 Episode 16, and had to be involuntarily committed.
Cade was dragged off, possibly kicking and screaming, to a psych ward. What does LaSalle have to say about this? Not much, apparently, because it doesn't even rate a passing mention in this episode!
While it didn't occur to me that it had been passed over until after the "More Now" ended, it's definitely nagged at me.
