Doctor Who has gone through many different versions. The 13th Doctor features Jodie Whittaker as the iconic, time-traveling detective. It airs in the United States on BBC America on Monday nights.

A British science fiction program, Doctor Who first began airing in 1963. There have been 12 incarnations of The Doctor, an alien with two hearts who travels in the TARDIS, which resembles a blue police box that used to be quite common throughout Britain when the series started. The TARDIS is larger on the inside than it looks on the outside and that's a common theme among people who get to enter.

The Doctor always has a companion and she comes and goes at different times than The Doctor regenerates, and often one companion is common through more than one Doctor.

The Doctor has many enemies and many have remained constant throughout the series run: The Daleks, the Cybermen and The Master among them.

While the show is fantastical sometimes genuinely frightening, it was created as entertainment the entire family could enjoy together, so there is nothing included in the series that is not acceptable to be seen through the eyes of children.

Watch alone of with your entire family and enjoy the whimsical, ironic and entertaining world of Doctor Who.
