Never make Laura Diamond angry. You won't like her when she's angry.

On The Mysteries of Laura Season 2 Episode 5, Laura is determined to take down a man who abused his wife and possibly killed his previous wife. It was a story filled with a lot of twists and turns as well as a reminder that things aren't always as they seem.

Let's get down to business and discuss, "The Mystery of the Watery Grave."

Old Secrets - The Mysteries of Laura

I know I've said it before, but I am really enjoying how integrated Max is with the team now. He's really coming into his own as an investigator. I can't help but love his little tangents he goes off on like admiring the houses of the super rich – plus his friendship with Laura is one of the highlights of the series.

It's unfortunate Laura doesn't have many people she feels she can trust, but with Max she doesn't have to worry about him deceiving her because his loyalties are with Laura. Hopefully they'll continue to develop Max. I'm curious to see if he will ever be a full fledged detective. He would be perfect for the cases involving the wealthy suspects.

Speaking of people Laura can trust, who else is happy they no longer have Laura and Meredith competing with each other? It seems like their relationship has grown a lot more and there is now a mutual respect and understanding between both women. I do wish Meredith, and Billy as well, were more involved in the case of the week.

Speaking of the case of the week, involving a woman named Isabelle who was run off the road leading to a long list of suspects, was a fairly complex case. The main suspect in the case, Isabelle's husband Terence Van Doran, seemed like the most logical choice given his previous wife died under suspicious circumstances, but I was a little irritated how Captain Santiani wasn't listening to Laura regarding the case at first.

Thank goodness Captain Santiani didn't let Terence get to her and finally gave Jake and Laura permission to look into why Isabelle would want to disappear. It was heartbreaking listening to Isabelle telling Laura her story about how Terence would beat her – it was such a raw moment and was beautifully written. I was ready for Laura to bring Terence down the moment Isabelle showed off her bruises.

In the end, Captain Santiani and Laura had a celebratory drink and Laura finally got a little information about Captain Santiani's past. It turned out Captain Santiani was hit by her ex, but got out of there right away. This piece of information now paints an entirely different picture of Captain Santiani and her hard ass nature makes even more sense. I now have a little more respect for her.

Though the biggest thing to happen was Jake officially throwing his hate in the ring for Laura's affections. This isn't an entirely shocking turn of events given the fact it hasn't been a secret Jake still harbors feelings for Laura, but I am interested to see how things play out. Do you think Laura will ever be able to give Jake her trust? What will happen to Tony?
