American Crime Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Eric's Story

at .  Updated at .

Who else thinks Steph should have a talk with all the kids at Leyland? She seems to be the only one who knows what's she talking about.

On American Crime Season 2 Episode 5, the night of the captain's party started to become a little bit more clear. I admit I'm still confused on which way the story is going to go, but it has been extremely riveting watching all the pieces come together. It really is one giant puzzle.

When Taylor was talking with the detectives about what happened at the party is instantly made me believe he had been molested. There's always been something about Taylor which has always made me think something terrible happened to him

. I even understood why Taylor has been wanting to protect his mom.

It's obvious Anne had some type of mental breakdown and had to leave Taylor to get help. Taylor, no matter if something happened to him or not, doesn't want his mom to go through another breakdown. It's actually interesting to see the dynamics of Taylor and Anne's relationship.

Taylor is acting like a parent to Anne. He wants to shield her from anything which might hurt her or cause her to do something she may regret. It was compelling listening to him speak with his therapist and voice how protective he is of Anne.

Do I think Anne can handle the truth from Taylor? I really doubt it.

I know Anne wants to be there for Taylor, and wants to protect him, but she has consistently made things worse for him. He told her he didn't want the police involved, but she ignored his request. Now things have just gone from bad to worse thanks to the emails and text messages between him and Eric.

Speaking of Eric, it was fascinating hearing the story of what happened from his perspective. It's clear there were emails and texts exchanged between him and Taylor, but the whole sexual encounter still seems odd. I'm starting to believe Eric wasn't completely in the loop when it came to the captain's party.

It's also difficult not to feel bad for Eric. He was forced to come out as gay, and everyone knows, but he's not getting any support. The kid just tried to kill himself and his own brother is telling him their mom can't handle Eric's lifestyle. At least Eric's father is being somewhat accepting.

Moving on to Kevin, I really believe he was the mastermind behind whatever happened at the captain's party. Things seemed extremely fishy when he was talking to the other two players about keeping the secret. I'm ready for one of the players to slip up and tell the truth. It's also starting to get increasingly infuriating how Terri and Michael don't question their son.

They seem to be under the impression Kevin is honest with them, but they truly know nothing about their son. As parents, I understand wanting to believe your children are good, but there's something off about Kevin. It's only a matter a time believe he starts to unravel and we get a better picture of who Kevin is.

In the end, Anne couldn't let the assault on Taylor go and do some digging into Leyland's dirty laundry. I can't say I'm completely surprised Leyland has some secrets they've tried to keep hidden. It really does seem as though something is really off about Leyland and the way they do things.
