Was anyone else just not feeling that finale?

On Quantico Season 1 Episode 22, it was time for the final showdown. Our favorite agents had to discover who the real terrorist was and stop a bomb from going off. It sounds like super thrilling, edge of your seat kind of stuff, doesn't it?

Too bad it ended up being kind of bleh.

There wasn't any intrigue left. We knew that Liam was the terrorist, and so the real excitement for the viewers was taking him down. We shot him, anti-climatically. That's how his story ended. Then, it was just like, "oh, okay. Now what?"

There was never a real fear for Ryan or Alex's life, so it's not like you were anxiously watching, hoping things didn't go sideways. What did you think of Liam's death?

While it was fun watching how Liam got dirt on everyone, there are still so many questions. Why did he choose Alex as a scapegoat? Why did he have to use FBI trainees for his scheme? Maybe it was because they were handy, but maybe Liam had some ulterior motive there. We will never know.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned my love of interrogation scenes before, but I'll bring it up again. Liam being interrogated would have been amazing. Everyone could have a turn questioning him as to why he did it, where the bomb is, where Miranda and/or Ryan is. We could have gotten answers this way, and it would have been really fun to watch the power dynamic play out.

Also, could we give Liam a better reason for doing all of this?

I don't understand how Liam making bad decisions is justification for bombing Grand Central. If you don't want to be a part of shady activity, then don't. You could have grown a pair and told the truth. You could have also left the FBI. No one was forcing you to be there, Liam. 

I expected a better motive. Drew being the terrorist makes more sense to me because the FBI is the reason why his fiancé died. Liam's just a whiny guy who overreacted a bit. Sure, he did bring up valid points, and the FBI definitely could be better, but nothing Liam said came close to justifying his actions.

Another reason why the finale was under whelming was how the bomb was disposed. Simon drove off with it, so there wasn't really a race against the clock type feeling. The whole thing was a weird experience of me crying while rolling my eyes at the over dramatic parts. Come on, the "I love you's" and hugs were a bit much. 

I guess I thought valor would feel a lot less scary.

What I did like was that Simon redeemed himself. He has been struggling with his part in all of this since Grand Central. When Alex went to visit him, he talked about how he put a gun in his mouth every day. Now, Simon managed to right his wrongs, and he saved the day. 

The majority of this finale wasn't even about taking down Liam and the bomb. It could have spanned so much more time, but it didn't. I mean we had to create stupid Ryan/Alex and Shelby/Caleb drama at Quantico because God forbid we go too long without that. I'm still a little fuzzy on how Shelby and Caleb are okay now, seeing as how they basically hated each other when they left Quantico.

Another thing the finale spent a surprising amount of time on was what came after Liam's failed attack. We had two flash forwards (well two that we had to be given time stamps for at the bottom of the screen) because for some reason just jumping to Simon's funeral wasn't enough.

The entire point of the two week flash forward was to put Ryan and Alex back together for probably the 15th time. I really, really, don't understand why they are still something that we have to endure. I'm really not seeing the appeal or even remembering why I used to ship them. Do you ship them?

Then that flash forward was there so we could have Alex literally stare at her two futures - the CIA or Ryan. Seeing as how the title of this episode is, "Yes," I'm thinking she might take the CIA job. What does Alex working at the CIA mean for all the characters we know and love that work for the FBI? Joint task force? What do you think next season will bring?

One thing I did enjoy was that Alex figured out that Claire wasn't completely innocent. Alex never stops digging even when the bad guy has been caught. I really liked that what gave Claire away was the fact that she was never taking blood pressure medication. It's such a small thing that anyone could have overlooked, but Alex caught it.
