Lucifer will be around for considerably longer than first planned.
The devilishly good Fox drama was renewed back in May for 13 episodes.
After building creatively in Season 2 and fitting like a glove out of Gotham, the series has now been picked up for another 9 episodes.
This means Season 2 will stand tall at 22 episodes and will be quite a bit longer than Lucifer Season 1.
The show has really been so much better and that's probably down to the addition of Tricia Helfer.
She is turning in an amazing performance as Lucifer's mother.
Fox released a statement to accompany the renewal news.
“LUCIFER continues to deliver, with great blasts of dark humor and ambitious storytelling. The show has turned out to be a true wicked pleasure, the perfect companion to GOTHAM, and we couldn’t be more pleased to order these nine additional episodes,” said David Madden.
“We’d like to thank Tom, Lauren and the entire cast, who have imbued these characters with charm, humor and a great deal of humanity. Our thanks also go out to the production crew – Jerry, Len, Jonathan, Joe and Ildy – who, week-in and week-out, deliver a stellar show. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the season.”
Fans have a lot to look forward to on the series.
Tonight's episode will be a Halloween special that will be sure to bring us more of the first class drama, comedy and acting we've come to expect from the show.
It's unclear what this means for the mid-season shows that were waiting in the wings.
We already knew Fox was planning on shelving both Gotham and Lucifer for a few months, but we'll need to wait and see if that is still part of their agenda.
