How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10 Review: We're Bad People

Wait... so Wes died as a result of the fire?

That was seemingly revealed on How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10 and it's kind of not sitting right with me. After all of the hype, it seemed like we were going to be in for a tough time of it as we tried to make sense of who murdered him.

Who's Lying? - How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10

Although someone did set the fire, I just can't get to grips with Frank turning himself in for it. It was so predictable, and I expected better from the this show.

There are always crazy twists, but Wes getting in the car with Frank was a dumb move. There's no way in a million years the fire starter has been revealed.

The big reveals on this show come after a slow burn, and we've barely just been introduced to the latest mystery.

Frank really needs to just disappear at this stage.

He's trying way too hard to get Annalise back on his side and it's getting pretty pathetic. Turning himself in was probably a way to repent for his murderous tendencies, but you'd think he'd man up and take the fall for the murders he actually committed.

Annalise hates him. She's cut him off, but somehow, Renee is going to find a way to discredit Frank's story in order to keep Annalise in prison. The prison storyline is showing us a new side to the character.

Viola Davis plays vulnerable very well, and it's not often Annalise is vulnerable. Watching her downfall has been unsettling, but it's been a little satisfying, too.

She always seems to find her way out of the crazy situations she and her students find themselves in. At some point, someone has to take the fall and justice has to be served.

Unfortunately for Annalise, there's a good chance she could take the fall for everything. There's no way she's going to be able to return to Middleton University.

Answer My Question! - How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10

There's been too much drama. A student dying at her home will be the straw that broke the camel's back. Annalise might not want to return, either. Killing Wes was a bold statement that the show will change things up if need be.

That's part of what sent the hype into overdrive for this batch of episodes. I had a huge issue with Annalise wanting Eve on the case. Doesn't she realize that everything she's ever done will be popping up at some point?

Bonnie was totally right to rule Eve a conflict of interest. Annalise should know better than this. Being in jail, she's obviously not thinking clearly. She's also (I hope!) mourning the loss of Wes.

Any way you look at it, it wouldn't have made sense for Annalise to have Wes killed. She's been such a huge part of his life that killing him would just be awful.

However, that's not to say she didn't try threatening him for speaking to the cops. Additionally, who is to say that Bonnie did not take the preemptive measure of offing Wes in the event that he did blab about anything to the cops?

There are just so many possibilities with this storyline that it's difficult to speculate what the heck is going to happen.

Oliver is emerging as someone who could be kind of sketchy. He was meant to wipe the phone for Annalise, but keeping a backup proved that he was not entirely on board with helping her to begin with.

Would it really be out of the realm of possibility that Oliver could have orchestrated the Keating fire? I mean, he could know more than we've been led to believe.

There's also the possibility that Connor was not with Thomas when the fire occurred. Connor was being an ass about the whole thing. He's turned into a self destructive person, and that will probably cost him a lot of friendships.

As for sleeping with Thomas, Oliver was the one who moved on first, so Connor felt like he had to get one over on Oliver for breaking up with him to get hot and heavy with someone else.

Despite a small glimmer of hope that Oliver could become a thing again, I don't know if I would be on board with it. They are clearly not right for each other if they keep getting hurt.

What Did You See? - How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10

Laurel trying to make sense of the whole thing was rough. How could she seriously find a way to move on with her life following the murder of her boyfriend?

Yes, he was her baby daddy and that was somewhat surprising. It seemed like the baby was going to be Frank's, so I'm thankful we know that Laurel will be carrying a part of the man she really loved with her for the rest of her life.

Annalise is probably going to have some sort of obsession with the baby... much like she did with Wes. It will be interesting to watch it all play out, but it's doubtful Laurel will want to lay eyes on Annalise Keating again.

"We're Bad People" was not the best episode, but it successfully laid the groundwork for the final few episodes of the season. I can't wait to see how all of that plays out.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • How long will it take for Annalise to speak up in jail?
  • Nate offering Bonnie immunity was just painful. He knew that going anywhere near to Annalise would result in Renee going after him.
  • Asher and Connor's fight was painful to watch. Those two have a better dynamic as friends.
  • The flashbacks were a nice touch, but I hope the show does not use them too much.
  • Hannah Keating placing a call to the police was certainly surprising, but would she really turn to murder?
  • The Mahoneys should definitely be investigated.

How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 10 Quotes

Connor: What's going on, Ollie?
Oliver: Annalise asked me to delete everything on her phone last night, before I knew Wes was dead. That means she did this, right?
Connor: No.
Oliver: You told Bonnie you thought she did it.
Connor: Yeah, I was wrong. She's being framed.
Oliver: I think maybe you're lying to me the same way you lied about the bonfire. Sam Keating went missing that night, his remains were found a few weeks later. Did you all do that?

Bonnie: Your bail hearing is tomorrow at two. I called Helen Hughes. She wants the case. Eve would be a conflict of interest.
Annalise: Everyone's a conflict of interest.
