Paul Wesley & Marlene King Team For New Freeform Drama

at .

Have you been missing The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars?

If so, Freeform may have you covered with its latest show in development.

Paul Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries for eight years has joined forces with Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King to bring Tapped to the screen.

The show will find a group of grad students thrust into a world filled with money and deceit when a hookup app they create becomes an overnight success.

The trio will be forced to stick together as they try to keep their app in their control. Going against them is the fact they do not have much experience in the field.

King is on board as an executive producer through her Long Lake Media, and Wesley is on board through Citizen Media.

The story is based on an unpublished memoir from Andrew Shaffer, and Thomas Brandon will be writing it for TV.

Wesley has directed and produced episodes of The Vampire Diaries over the last few years and even directed an episode of Shadowhunters earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Marlene King was instrumental in bringing Freeform's biggest hit, Pretty Little Liars to the screen, and is also working on a spinoff series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists to the screen.

Freeform has struggled in the ratings since changing its name from ABC Family, so the network is trying to break out of the doldrums with some new hits that appeal to a broader audience.

A lot of fans cried out after Pretty Little Liars concluded earlier this year. There was a lot of closure on Pretty Little Liars Season 7 Episode 20, but a lot of key questions were left unanswered.
