Scorpion Season 4 Episode 8 Review: Faire is Foul

What would a trip to the Renaissance festival be without a little danger?

On Scorpion Season 4 Episode 8, the time spent at the Renaissance festival is an absolute delight. There's just no other way to describe it. The team was in costume; there's mayhem; it's delightful.

We could have quickly segued into the case moments after arriving at the Faire, but Scorpion knows how to take its time. There's no rush, and there's just so much to enjoy at a Renaissance festival.

The Rennaissance Festival - Scorpion

The team didn't attend the Faire for a case; the case interrupted their time at the Faire. If the bikers started robbing the evidence warehouse any earlier, it would have felt more like a work trip than a fun outing.

Who had the best costume? It's hard to pick, but I'm going to have to go with executioner Happy. What sayest you?

Yes, it was obvious that something bad was going to happen at the LAPD evidence warehouse because why else would it have been mentioned repeatedly? Still, this predictability isn't a bad thing.

Great, we're stuck in the 17th century, and the only thing we need to save this man is electricity!

Sly

Scorpion does well when it places the team in a dangerous situation and then forces them to get their way out of it using unconventional methods. We get to witness Team Scorpion's genius in an unexpected and fun way.

Having the teamwork only using tools available to people in 1599 was beyond entertaining, especially since Walter spent the beginning of the hour complaining about how inaccurate the Renaissance Faire was.

I bet you wish that transformer was up and running now, don't you Walter?

Cabe was in rare form and proved that no matter what tools you give him, he'll make do.

He commandeered a horse, jousted and kicked that bad guy's ass, and then defended himself with a shield. Cabe came, saw, and conquered the festival.

He should definitely be king. King Phillip proved he wasn't worthy of the crown.

I can't believe Sly's only 25. I forget how young he is. He's been through so much already.

Well, I hope you enjoyed your very eventful birthday, Sylvester. Here's to another year of being brave and facing your fears!

Speaking of Sly and Cabe, their friendship is being handled beautifully so far this season.

It's been nice to see the two of them bond. Cabe's pep talks are always great, but so far, we've mainly seen him mentor Walter. It's refreshing to mix things up a bit.

Cabe offered Sly advice on how to convince his friends at Renaissance Faire folk to join in and help, and he attempted to provide advice on sprinkles to Toby. Yeah, that conversation was a whole lot of awkward. I want to erase it from my brain.

However, the sentiment still stands. Cabe's been a great father-figure to Team Scorpion recently, and while his scenes with Walter are great, it's even better that we are seeing him interact with other members.

Hopefully, we will see him spend some time with Ralph soon. They are a great combo.

Another great combo is Toby and Paige.

It's like every week I'm giving him boyfriend lessons. I know it would be hard, but this hard? You and Happy had problems, but at your cores, you're alike. I don't know. We're such different people.

Paige

While Paige is the EQ genius on the team, she turned to Toby for help with Walter. She trusts Toby enough to be able to vent to him, and she hopes that he will be able to give her some encouragement or advice.

It's such a sweet moment between Toby and Paige, even though Toby spent basically all of it trying to get out of there as soon as possible so he could roll around in the hay with Happy.

It's hard to know what's better -- Walter's original version of the song or the fact that he asks Happy for her expert opinion.

Okay, it's definitely the first version of the song. It would climb straight to the top of the iTunes chart if he released it.

[singing] Your love is love is love, baby. You know your love is love is love is love because I love you, and you love me. You've got a lovely booty.

Walter

Happy and Walter's friendship is always fun to focus on, and she's the right person to play the song for. What's even better is that Happy offered Walter some excellent advice on how to write an actual love song for Paige.

Can we all agree that Paige or another member of Team Scorpion is going to find that cassette tape before the end of the season? It's going to be played, and I just can't decide what scenario.

The first one that comes to mind is that someone finds it after Walter and Paige have gotten into a big argument or even split up. I'm picturing the tape maybe pushing Paige back into Walter's arms. What are your theories?

Scorpion Season 4 Episode 8 Quotes

[singing] Your love is love is love, baby. You know your love is love is love is love because I love you, and you love me. You've got a lovely booty.

Walter

From the 50s to the 70s, the most commonly used word was "love," and then oddly the emphasis shifted to the word "baby" in the 80s, and then every songwriter became infatuated with the word "booty," which is slang for "buttocks."
