The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 19 Review: Ian Garvey: Conclusion

at .

Liz made one of the most difficult decisions of her life on The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 19 when she decided that learning the secret of the duffel bag was more important than making Tom's murderer suffer.

I was disappointed that she was only going to arrest Garvey instead of carving him up the way he carved up Tom, but that bastard got his anyway.

At least I hope he's dead.

Ian Garvey - The Bastard - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 19

I don't think Liz would have shot Red even if he would have killed Ian Garvey. She was way too quick turning on Ian after he snuck out his gun and shot Red.

Every time she makes a threat against Red, I know she's not serious. Now, if she would have trained her gun on Dembe (and that's what I thought she did at first), then I might believe she'd actually do it.

If there was anything that would devastate Red, it would be his own daughter hurting or even killing the only man who he would give his life for.

The scene in Pete's Tavern had to be one of the best and most intense of the series (even if Liz had no intention of killing Red.) Two daughters. Two fathers. And one big secret that seems like it will never be revealed.

I don't know whether to be frustrated or amazed that The Blacklist has been able to use a bag of bones to keep us on the edge of our seats for this long, but when that secret is finally revealed, it better be worth my time and emotions.

Liz is at the end of her rope. She is frustrated, confused and angry as hell. And she has every right to be.

Liz Makes a Decision - The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 19

As much as I don't want to admit it, Red was just as responsible for Tom's death as Ian Garvey was because it was Red's secret that brought Tom and Ian together.

Red telling Liz she wasn't entitled to his knowing his secret was like a slap in the face to her. She's not going to stop until she either finds out the truth, and I get the strong feeling that when that time comes, she's going to be much more dangerous than Raymond Reddington could have ever imagined.

Jennifer stuck the knife in deep when she said Liz was just like Red. It was the last thing Liz wanted to hear, but it was also something Liz has become more and more aware of as the season has progressed which is why she's going to become Red's worst nightmare.

At some point, Red is going to have to wonder if all the lies were worth it.

It had to be painful for Red to hear Jennifer remind him of the day he walked away from his family. Could Liz and Katarina have been the reason he walked away from Jennifer and Naomi?

Everything you've believed for the last 30 years has been a lie. You've spent a lifetime hiding for no reason.

I can't remember if that story was ever shared, but it would be interesting to find out what really happened.

What I'm also interested in finding out is if Liz and Jennifer will start working together to bring down Reddington. If Garvey is really dead, there will be two women who are really pissed off at Red for two very different reasons and may be willing to work together for a common goal.

It's also possible that Jennifer might know everything about the duffel bag. I can't imagine that Garvey wouldn't have put it in a safe place or given it to someone he trusted to keep safe.

The Bag of Bones - The Blacklist

Garvey had to have a backup plan regarding the bones. They can't just be sitting in his closet somewhere waiting to be found by his wife.

Getting to the big showdown at Pete's Tavern was just as intense as the showdown itself, but a lot more fun.

We always knew Red would call on Sinclair at some point, but I always thought it would be so Liz would have an alibi for when Garvey turned up a bloody mess at Liz's hands.

I wasn't expecting Sinclair to create a double for Garvey. I thought Red was going to have a double made of himself which is why I was a little shocked that Tony the post office guy was being brought in as the double.

What a shock to see Tony show up as Garvey instead, but what a relief when he didn't get killed playing the evil bald guy in order to eliminate that third wheel, Mosadek.

What Blacklister is next to be called upon by Red in his race to find the bones?

What did you think of "Ian Garvey: Conclusion"? What's your theory on the where the bones are hidden?

Will Liz and Jennifer team up to work against Red? Will Liz bring Red down or will he be able to fight her off?

The Blacklist Season 5 Episode 19 Quotes

Liz: Tom died for a reason. You know why, and you won't tell me.
Red: I won't tell you something that is none of your business. It was none of Tom's business. You may feel entitled to know what it is because he died trying to figure out what was but you're not.

As the Russians say, trust but verify.
