The 100 Season 5 Episode 7 Preview: Under Pressure on "Acceptable Losses"

at .

We left off The 100 Season 5 Episode 6 in a strange place, somewhere between worried and intrigued. Echo's big arc that was waiting just around the corner is gearing up to be worth the watch, at least if that last scene was anything to go by.

Meanwhile, over at the bunker, things aren't looking good. Bellamy and Octavia are having issues, both with one another and with us as we follow their journey.

Clarke and Madi have also ended up in a tough spot, with Octavia saying she will keep their secret safe which is just a straight up threat if we're honest.

Based on the promo, all eyes should still be on Octavia and her role as Wonkru leader.

Raven, Echo, and Charmaine - The 100 Season 5 Episode 7

Now The 100 Season 5 Episode 7 is using the title "Acceptable Losses," so it might be safe to say that tensions grow during this episode.

And the synopsis for this specific episode is, "Clarke and Bellamy make a startling discovery about Wonkru's battle plans; Echo risks her friendship with Raven to complete her mission."

There is also this very helpful trailer to help arrange our expectations for this episode.

Now, this preview may contain some light teases about the seventh episode, all of which is based on characters and scenes that have been discussed before or have been included in promotional videos and/or photos.

Proceed with caution if you don't want speculation or a variety of theories, but really, who doesn't like that?

Madi's First Day at Summer Camp Has Her Parents Very Concerned

Madi is in trouble.

Not to start a panic, but it might be time to start a slight panic.

Madi might have thought that cluing Octavia in on her true identity would at the very least save Clarke, what it did though was give a person with too much power even more of it.

In this situation, things aren't looking good if we base it off what little we know. Madi is going to start training with the others in the new episode, and the synopsis makes it sound like everything isn't like it seems.

Bellamy and Clarke would first have to come together though; something to think about when considering this sneak peek clip

Kane and Abby Talking - The 100 Season 5 Episode 7

In this scene, Octavia and Bellamy are in a terrible place, with Bellamy refusing to pretend that everything is fine. He is obviously not on her side completely, which allows for Clarke's worry about Madi to connect rather quickly.

Both Bellamy and Clarke are at a point in their individual stories where they find themselves facing their biggest issue; which just happens to be Octavia.

With Madi training around Octavia, there is also that possibility that she will see what life would have been like for her in the bunker. It doesn't have to be through Ethan, but it feels like his story wasn't finished.

At least in terms of him being a warning sign to Madi about Octavia and her ability to look after others.

Raven Reyes is Back Again - The 100

The way that Bellamy and Clarke get involved more in Wonkru through Madi leads them to find out something shocking.

Is this where I have to put in the obligatory cannibalism mention?

Honestly, though, it is more likely that they stumble upon details of what Wonkru plans to do to get that land, which has to have Madi in the equation.

It shouldn't go unnoticed that the bunker storyline seems to be the only one without any promotional photos. Clearly, the plans that are being set in place give too much away.

It also raises the question of how much Octavia is really expecting Echo to do anything. In my mind it is like she got exactly what she wanted; Echo is away from Bellamy for the time being.

Now Octavia may check in, yet her main focus will continue to situate itself on what steps have to be taken to make sure that piece of land is theirs.

There is some intrigue there, but not as much as Bellamy and Clarke working together again is.

The two are struggling, specifically with the way that Clarke and Bellamy aren't sharing with one another. Clarke has to let Bellamy in on her secret about Madi, something I hope we see go down on screen.

From there it is up to Bellamy, which is where I think his choice will start winding down. He will understand the dangers that Madi will be facing, and his relationship with Octavia won't work in the Blake favor.

The important question is, will Bellamy and Clarke find time to have an actual conversation or two during this whole thing? It is about freaking time.

Echo, Raven, and Charmaine's Girls Night Out

Echo is finally going to be reunited with her friend Raven, and yet it doesn't sound like this mission will be smooth sailing.

The big question right now is how will Raven's plan with not Zeke line up, or not line up, with what Echo has in store for Charmaine.

They have the same goal, and they have been a team for six years, but the risks there are too high not to promise some tension.

Also, let's be honest, Echo kind of loved getting back into her spy mode. She had that smirk going on when she managed to figure out a way to save the day, and something tells me this is just the beginning.

Abby Going Through The Motions - The 100 Season 5 Episode 7

This doesn't mean Echo is going to venture over to the dark side, but she has a mission and what if she went too far trying to save everyone?

It doesn't have to come from a vindictive place to end up still causing a genuine issue.

This is a theory that is heavily based off interviews that linger on the idea that Echo reaches a real low point this season, which goes hand in hand with her worry that the Sky Group doesn't care for her as she does for them.

Raven and Echo haven't seen each other since Raven stayed behind to save everyone else, something she is still doing. This time though she had to reexamine how to accomplish things on her own.

Abby Struggling With A Death - The 100 Season 5 Episode 7

She has not Zeke, but it has been a while since we checked in with them.

For all, we know they are still enemies. For all, we know they are officially in a relationship and ready to ride off into the double sunset waiting for them at the end of this season.

Could Echo's mission not line up with Raven enough that setting one off threatens the other? Maybe Raven's safety will be on the line, which would make sense considering she still can't be trusted, while Echo has the fact that she defected as a cover story.

There have been discussions about not Zeke being involved in all this, the possibility that Raven learned to trust him not sitting right with Echo who doesn't know him as well.

It is safe to say that things are going to get worse before they get better. A friendship will be on the line for Echo, and yet I am not expecting that to be a surprise for Echo's newly formed arc.

She still has a long way to go, they could all figure something out and face issues that none of us can even imagine.

The only thing we can fully expect is Echo having to deal with obstacles on her mission.

Abby Hard At Work, Kane Not As Helpful As Ever

Acceptable Losses, a term that when combined with Indra's sentence in the trailer, can set up a theme in mind for this episode.

Which deaths can be rationalized away for the greater good?

This is very easy to trace back to Octavia, someone who continues to focus on the fact that those that died in the bunker did so for the good of the rest.

Similiar to her stance during The 100 Season 5 Episode 5, the focus can't be on an individual when considering what will happen to the population at large.

The same may now be said for Abby's patients, perhaps even the girl whose open wounds Echo used for some brief storage. It helped Echo get in, but if she dies was it an acceptable death for the cause?

Kane and Abby Together Again - The 100 Season 5 Episode 7

Abby's arc so far rests solely on those terms, she is trying to save Charmaine's people, but that isn't coming along quickly.

With these new people coming in, does this put more stress on the burden that Abby is carrying as the only real doctor? She is continuously facing new challenges, and that is without the mention of her pill addiction.

That brings up the question of Kane in that trailer. Let's be honest here, he wasn't helpful and was kind of doing the opposite of what you would expect.

Abby is struggling, and he is essentially pushing her further to that dark place. Not the best idea, not a Kane idea.

What are the side effects of pill withdrawal again?

Stray Thoughts

  • Pilot Mechanic. That's it, that is the whole thought.
  • Please let's not have anyone eat more of those rations. I am one scene away from really freaking out, human remains or no human remains.
  • Harper will get a whole sentence, or maybe even two, in this upcoming episode. Her scenes have been so scarce that we will take all the crumbs we can get.
  • You are Team Bellamy, or you are Team Octavia. Choose. Seriously though, it may come off like we are meant to choose one or the other, but what if we don't? Neither of them is in a great place right now, in fact, they are both struggling within the context of the show and in terms of fans being able to side with either. I'd say we need to hold off before we make any rash decisions, mostly because all of this could switch around on us in the blink of an eye.
