When The Resident returns for Season 2 in the fall, there will be a lot more of both Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Glenn Morshower.
Warner plays AJ Austin, a surgeon whose personality gets him into a lot of trouble. The reason? He's very unpredictable, and there's no telling how he will react when the heat is turned up.
Morshower plays Marshall Winthrop aka the new chairman of the board at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.
The latter's promotion is a no-brainer when you consider the fact that his character is the estranged father of Conrad.
The storylines that can come from Conrad struggling to get on board with his father's new role are endless.
How long will it take before the father and son mend fences? Will they even be able to put the past behind them?
The Resident follows the lives and actions of a group of staff members from a hospital in Atlanta.
It tackled a lot of hard-hitting cases throughout The Resident Season 1, and while the storylines were called into question by medical professionals, it was still an addictive hour of television every week.
The series averaged 4.5 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 in live + same day figures. With DVR factored in the numbers swelled to 7 million viewers and a 1.7 in the demo.
It will remain on Mondays in the fall and will be paired up with 9-1-1 which was also a hit for the network when it debuted earlier this year.
