Charmed is returning to the air in the form of a reboot later this year.
Alyssa Milano, who portrayed Phoebe Halliwell on 1998-2006 original series has opened up about The CW's rejigged series.
“I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning,” Milano shared in an interview with ET Online.
“But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation.”
When asked whether she would appear in the new series, Milano said the following:
“I think that ship has sailed for me,” she said.
Milano's co-star, Holly Marie Combs was not impressed when she learned that The CW was developing a reboot.
"Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work," she said on Twitter back in January.
"Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye."
Many took issue with the way the network was pitching the series. It is described as “a fierce, funny, feminist reboot” centered on “three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”
It stars Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, and Madeleine Mantock as the trio of witches. The CW is using the series to promote its return to Sunday nights this fall.
It will be paired with Supergirl, which is moving from Mondays to the lower rated night.
