Jessica Lange is finally making her big return to American Horror Story.
Sarah Paulson broke the news Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Lange would be guest starring in an upcoming installment of American Horror Story: Apocalypse.
The most exciting thing about this casting news is that Lange will be playing the role of Constance, which she previously played on American Horror Story: Murder House back in 2011.
Lange will show up on American Horror Story Season 8 Episode 6, but it's unclear whether she could pop back up as the character further down the line, or in a new role entirely.
Murder House concluded with Constance shocked that her grandson, Michael, murdered his nanny, and wondered what she was going to do with the youngster.
We also already know that Cody Fern is assuming the Michael Langon role for Apocalypse which means there is likely a significant time jump in store.
Ryan Murphy shared the following image last week.
"Excited to announce Cody Fern will be playing the role of Michael Langdon in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Premieres September 12 on FX," he captioned the above image.
Lange appeared in the first four seasons of the FX smash but decided to leave the series to look for new opportunities. One of her most higher-profile shows since leaving was Feud: Bette and Joan.
During the panel for the show, we also learned a lot of details about which characters the actors will be playing.
Sarah Paulson confirmed she would be playing Billie Dean, Cordelia, and even a new character named Venerable.
Apocalypse “begins with the end of the world — and then our world begins,” EP Alexis Martin Woodall teased. Cordelia “is the Supreme [witch], for now, at the beginning of our story,” Paulson added. But, “I don’t know how long that is going to last.”
Emma Roberts also opened up about her role as Madison Montgomery aka one of the bitchiest characters on all of TV.
“I was told by the director to be bitchier, which I did not think was possible,” Roberts shared.
