Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 7 Review: It's Just Business

at .

Abby is on a mission to prove Wes' new girlfriend can't replace her on Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 7.

It looks like the girls are going to get a new stepmom, and Abby is not a fan.

Trace: So how long can you keep doing this?
Abby: Doing what?
Trace: Making homemade ice cream, going to pottery classes, and planning all-day scavenger hunts before you go to work at night?
Abby: I'm just trying to spend quality time with my daughters.
Trace: Abby, it's not a competition. You know, Ms. Marvel is just Wes's girlfriend. She's not you.

While Trace tries to tell Abby that she doesn't have to compete, he doesn't have the time to give her situation his full attention as there's been some theft at the bar, which is literally the last thing that anyone in this family needs.

It's completely understandable that Mick would be mad about the bar being put in a hole when he was the one that put up the money in the first place. But taking it out on Trace and strongarming him is not the answer. Trace deserves better than that.

Chesapeake Shores Abby and Trace Season 3 Episode 7

It just seems like Trace is constantly being punished for trying to follow his dreams. His relationship with Abby is still a little tense with everything going on with the paparazzi, and he doesn't have the time needed to fix it before another crisis falls in his lap. Can't the guy catch a break?

Trace: Well that's just it. I mean Greg Lanier's online books were all in order.
Mick: But?
Trace: But it appears he falsified vendor invoices, paying out far more than we ever received.
Mick: So he pocketed the difference?
Trace: He might have, or maybe the business just got away from him, and he started funneling money from one place to the next to pay bills.
Mick: How much is left?
Trace: We took a huge hit, Mick.

The entire competition aspect of her relationship with the girls has Abby running herself ragged, and it doesn't take long before it catches up with her. It's natural not to want to feel replaced in your kids' lives. But losing your job certainly isn't going to help anything.

But it seems everyone is off doing their own thing lately, and no one has time for anyone else's problems. A little reconnecting was exactly what was needed between everyone in this family.

Everything to Everyone - Chesapeake Shores

Bree is also just about stretched to her limit trying to sort through all of her scripts to narrow it down to just one. And Simon isn't around to help her, which is just nonsense. He can't just hit on Bree one episode and be gone the next!

But at least David is back for Jess. Except that he seems to have brought his sister Alex with him this time. I'm going to side with Jess on this; Alex seems to be up to something.

Chesapeake Shores Jess Season 3 Episode 7

Someone else who is up to something is Kate. Trying to force Megan to resign was absolute bull crap, and I refuse to believe anything otherwise. There are absolutely no grounds to let Megan go or force her to quit.

Thank goodness Nell had something more to say about it and wasn't willing to let Megan go down without a fight. If there's one thing that can always be counted on, it's Nell doing anything for her family.

It was a trait that was clearly passed off to Kevin. He knows damn well his family needs him in Chesapeake Shores but is still unsure of where he's going to be placed for work.

Which is probably part of the reason he gets so bent out of shape about Sarah being offered a job in Philadelphia and seriously considering it. There will be no words to describe my upset if Sarah leaves this show.

Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Love Eventually

The relationship between Kevin and Sarah is such a huge highlight. These two compliment each other in so many ways, and they have really found something special together.

But things aren't going to be much better if Sarah accepts the job and Kevin takes off with her. As much as I want them together, Kevin leaving the show is absolutely unacceptable.

Kevin: Sarah told me today that she might be transferring to the Philadelphia Fire Department.
Connor: Aw, that's a tough one.
Kevin: Yeah, what's really tough is I can't exactly tell her not to go, 'cause I don't know where I'm gonna be.
Connor: What are you going to do?
Kevin: I don't know.

It's bad enough that Trace is gone so often with his career. A situation that seems like it just may be coming to an end and I'm not sure that I can honestly say I'm upset about it.

As great as it is that Trace is off pursuing his dreams, the facts are that it does bring a lot of trouble back at home and it doesn't seem to be making him as happy anymore. Plus it adds strain to more than just his relationship to Abby.

Mick and Trace really butted heads, and it doesn't seem to be something that's going to stop, especially when Trace and Connor decided to team up and dissolve the partnership with The Bridge.

Trace: Mick, it's all good. I'm handling it.
Mick: You are, because you have integrity which is why I went into business with you in the first place.
Trace: Great, well, I'm interviewing managers this afternoon and we're in the process of setting up a new accounting system.
Mick: That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is, you can't promise me it won't happen again, because you may not be here to see that it doesn't. Look, when I go into business with somebody, it's face to face. That's not what's been going on here. You've been running this place in absentia. I lost more money canceling meetings in New York then I'm ever gonna get back here, no matter how long this place stays open. So if we're keeping the club, and I do wanna keep it, from now on, we do it my way.
Trace: That's not what we agreed to.
Mick: I think you should take another look at the contract. That's exactly what we agreed to.

Can't the O'Briens all find a way to come together and solve their issues one at a time? That's always been a surefire road to success in the past. It just seems like it was forgotten somewhere along the way.

I certainly can't deny that this episode had all the drama I could ever ask for, but it really didn't provide a lot of answers. With only a few episodes left until the season finale, that's something that has me nervous.

Chesapeake Shores Trace and Abby Season 3 Episode 7

Everyone needs to slow down and take a step back. It just seems like everyone is losing sight of what makes them truly happy and what they actually want out of life.

Remember when things used to be simple in Chesapeake Shores? No? Well, that's probably because they've always been crazy, just not all at the same time like it feels like now.
