Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15 Review: I Lose People...

Man the lifeboats, because this season feels like a sinking ship!

On Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15, Morgan and the group's hope was tested, while Alicia and Charlie searched for a way to help John and Strand. Oh, and Martha was still on her ridiculous, vengeful quest to make the "weak" strong.

It boggles my mind how a season that began with such promise could devolve into such a muddled and mediocre mess in a matter of episodes.

Team Work - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

I've usually been one to praise Fear the Walking Dead for its tighter focus due to its smaller group of characters. But it seems that this season is falling into the same patterns that have plagued The Walking Dead in recent seasons.

Inconsistent writing is mostly to blame, as this season might have tried to introduce more characters than it knew how to handle. That leads me to the other issue that has been hindering the second half of the season: Martha.

No Pressure - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

Don't get me wrong; I love Tonya Pinkins -- especially her portrayal of Ms. Peabody on Gotham -- however, the character of Martha has been poorly written. She simply isn't a convincing enough villain to take seriously, and as a result, the latter half of the season has been suffering.

Being the penultimate episode, I still had hope that "I Lose People" would do something to right the ship. But similar to the group being stranded on the roof, my hope has begun to waver.

Ringing The Dinner Bell - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

When Martha passed out from her injuries, I had hoped that Alicia would have just taken the van and left Martha to die. By taking her with them, you knew things weren't going to end well.

At least Alicia and Charlie were able to rescue John and Strand. Although, I'm still not convinced that the S.W.A.T. van was able to cross the water without flooding the engine.

Not only that, but that water seemed a heck of a lot deeper on Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 13, didn't it? I'm also disappointed that there weren't any more interactions with the vicious, walker-snatching alligator.

Bummer.

Back In Black - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

Morgan finally came up with a plan to get the group off the roof, which was for the group to venture back down into the hospital to search for a way out. Did anyone else find it ridiculous how the walkers were no longer prowling the halls? Unless I missed something, that sure seemed way too convenient.

Al was nowhere to be found when the group made it to the generator room, but she was kind enough to leave a note about trying to escape through the freight elevator. Sarah's response to Al's derogatory comment towards Martha made for a fun comedic moment.

She didn't use the "C" word. She went for the full quesadilla.

Sarah

Morgan's plan of staying behind and tossing a walker off the roof and onto a nearby car to set off the alarm seemed silly, but it was able to cause a distraction long enough for the group to get away.

Seriously, that was some incredibly precise aiming and amazing luck that Morgan made that accurate throw in a single attempt.

Maybe he's had some practice swinging bodies off of rooftops in his spare time.

There was no doubt that June and the others would come back for Morgan. He's helped each of them in one way or another, and seeing them all come together was a powerful moment.

When the group once again became trapped by walkers, Jim made a selfless act by leaping to his death to distract the walkers and get everyone to safety.  He was already a dead man walking, so choosing to turn his lousy situation into something decent was incredible.

Morgan, you told me I get to choose how I go? I think this beats pissing in the wind.

Jim

It was such a heroic moment for Jim, although, I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of what would have happened if the alarm didn't go off, or if Jim had missed the car entirely.

It still makes me chuckle thinking about it.

I'm glad that in the end, Jim did leave his beer recipe with Sarah. I do wonder though what that secret ingredient is and if we'll ever find out.

Bad Shape - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

Anyone could foresee that Martha would end up freeing herself and escaping. And now, it appears that she's going to use walker Jimbo to go after Morgan. Although, how Martha plans on using Jim is beyond me since every bone in his body is likely broken.

That guy isn't going anywhere.

How was Jim even able to return as a walker in the first place? You would think that fall would have been enough to damage his brain enough to prevent reanimation.

Now, I'm by no means an expert on the human body's impact following a ten-plus story drop, but common sense would suggest that Jim's body -- and skull for that matter -- should have been in significantly worse condition.

Going Down? - Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 15

If anyone has a chance at getting through to Martha, it would be Morgan. He's lost himself more times than I can count and has always found his way back.

At this point though, I think Martha is so far gone that I doubt Morgan will be able to help her. And even if he was able, Martha's made it abundantly clear she doesn't need or want help.

But as John said to Morgan during the episode, anything is possible.

John: How the hell did they find us?
Strand: Perhaps you were right. Perhaps we just needed to believe.

The season is not over yet folks, but the finale will have work to do if Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 wishes to end on the same high note that it started.

The best thing this series can do -- and needs to do -- is be done with Martha's character and move on.

It's time to hear from you, Fear-natics!

What did you think of "I Lose People..."? Is it time to put an end to Martha's storyline? Will the group find Al and make it to Virginia?
