The Dobermans are thawing!
Zeus and Apollo jumped to action on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 11 and saved Magnum when he least expected it.
Magnum thought he was going to have to take the bad guys down on his own to save Higgins and Kumu, but the dogs surprisingly came to Magnum's defense.
They're warming to Magnum which seems to coincide with Higgins' increasingly change of attitude about him.
She is trying not to be such a cold person, and whether she wants to admit it or not, Magnum has everything to do with it.
I'm not going to dwell too much on the Higgins/Magnum brewing romance because there is a lot of other fun stuff to talk about this hour.
But it is worth mentioning that Magnum whipping off his t-shirt to clean the car was a clear invitation to Higgins.
She didn't bite this time (and shockingly didn't even bat an eyelash), but she will.
At least Kumu appreciated an exquisite piece of eye candy when she saw it!
What made this hour stand out was how balanced it was.
There was a bit of romantic teasing (see above), a badass fight scene, car chases, and, most importantly, a team effort to get to the bottom of the mystery.
There is no doubt that Magnum is Superman and can solve all the problems of those who seek his services on his own.
But it's a lot more fun when he involves T.C. and Rick.
The three of them make a good team, and with T.C. and Rick's wealth of resources, Magnum can't go wrong when he involves them.
Besides, who doesn't love the banter that ensues when the three of them get together?
T.C. and Rick spoke the truth when they told Magnum that he is nothing but trouble, yet the two of them can't stay away.
It's not only that they'd do anything to support their friend, but also because the two of them enjoy very much that Magnum always seems to steer them towards action and danger.
Rick seemed only slightly alarmed when the cops were chasing after them for speeding like maniacs in their pursuit of the bad guys.
Even though we didn't get to see the light bulb go off in Magnum's head that it was time to call Katsumoto, I'm going to guess that it was Rick who encouraged Magnum to make the call.
He certainly wanted Magnum to ramp up the love for Katsumoto to get the cops to back off when they were trying to chase down Sergei.
Rick knew what needed to get done because he's probably been down that road many times.
Katsumoto thought Magnum was playing him and maybe he was, but a lot of what Magnum said was true.
Katsumoto might not be his best friend, but he's a very dependable guy for Magnum.
And even though Katsumoto claimed he'd never help Magnum again, and claimed he doesn't really like Magnum, we know that's not true.
Magnum is like a welcome diversion in Katsumoto's life. If it weren't for Magnum, Katsumoto wouldn't be having any fun!
Speaking of fun, Higgins finally met her match when she got into an altercation with the KGB agent.
It was an awesome fight, and Higgins almost pulled it off, but even with Kumu coming to her aid, she couldn't quite pull it off.
There's nothing wrong with Higgins not winning.
The KGB agent was highly skilled, and Higgins has been out of action for some time but just because she ended up a hostage, didn't diminish her badass status.
What I liked best was that after it was all over, she showed her vulnerable side when she shared a story with Kumu about her first experience having a gun pointed at her.
It took a lot for Higgins to admit that she was scared at that time, but she was concerned for Kumu.
Higgins' walls are breaking down. Pretty soon maybe even Magnum will be calling her Juliet, too.
