The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9 Review: Minister D

at .

Oh, Dembe. What have you done?

Dembe hunted for the truth on The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 8 and The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9  and found it, but in the end, he decided it best to keep it a secret.

As disappointing as it was, it is not surprising he didn't tell Red the truth about what Liz had done.

Telling the Truth - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

It would have crushed Red almost as much as it crushed Dembe.

The shock and disappointment on Dembe's face when he confronted Liz was palpable. He was so sure that Liz couldn't possibly have made the call even if Red thought it might be true.

Dembe loves Red too much and decided the best course of action was to keep Liz's secret.

But you can be sure that Dembe will be keeping a close eye on Liz. He is no longer her ally.

Who knows, Dembe may decide at some point that it would be better for Liz to be out of Red's life completely, and she'll suddenly disappear.

Hostage - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

At the very least she deserves a swift kick in the pants or a nice big slap across the face.

I wasn't surprised AT ALL that she changed her tune about Red after hearing the tape implicating Katarina.

It's just too bad she wasn't in that courtroom to hear Red's emotional testimony regarding Katarina's betrayal because then maybe she'd understand what a truly horrible person she is for pursuing this asinine quest of hers.

I have to be honest. Her whole pursuit of the truth was a complete waste of time because it ended up back where we all knew it would end up.

And a lot of the story leading up to this point, including parts of "Marko Jankowics" and "Minister D" didn't make a lot of sense.

For example, while it was great to finally say goodbye to Jennifer, I can't help but wonder if the only reason she was even put in the story was so that she would make the big reveal about Katarina.

Helping Sister - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

Or maybe it was to highlight the difference between her and Liz and show us that Liz is more like Red than Liz wants to admit?

None of Jennifer's story made any sense from why Liz was so quick to embrace her to why she was so quick to leave the scene.

She was the one who pushed Liz to follow the plan to get Red arrested and then she decides that she just doesn't care about Red's identity anymore?

I get that she was nearly killed because of Liz's idiotic idea to kidnap Renard, but still.

Gotham Season 5 Episode 7 Review: Ace Chemicals

Here today, gone tomorrow with no clear reasoning as to why she wasted precious screen time in the first place. And Liz's attachment to her did nothing but drive me crazy.

But I think some of that could be attributed to the fact that Liz is really searching for who she is and any connection she can find she wants to hold onto.

Still, she had no evidence that Jennifer was really her sister and the fact that she embraced someone who was connected to the man who killed time will forever leave me scratching my head.

Next, we have Renard. She knew Red's true identity and the circumstances surrounding Red's identity change.

Bad Guy - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

While it is EXTREMELY interesting that Katarina was the one to bring Red to Dr. Kohler, that kernel of information Renard shared with Jennifer seemed to be the only reason she even existed.

And if she knew this information and Red knew she knew this information, why didn't Red take action before? I'm guessing Dembe killed her after talking to Red, but why now?

It's like the bones. Why keep evidence of something so damning? Why not just get rid of it for good the first time?

Red could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he would have taken care of any and all evidence earlier on.

However, these reveals about Katarina have me wondering about her whereabouts and if she really is dead.

I'm not buying into the whole Red is really Katarina theory either. Renard pretty much squashed that theory, anyway. I mean, Katarina would have had to have gone through not just a facial change but a whole body change and I just don't see it.

Lying for Love - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

Still, imposter Red knew an awful lot about the "real" Red's feelings for Katarina and their daughter, so there's a huge question mark as to why the imposter would want to take on Red's identity.

Ressler was wondering the same thing, and it might be something that he decides to pursue on his own because of his own obsession with Red.

But he might also want to find out the truth for Liz even if she has decided to give up her quest at this point.

It's clear that Ressler and Liz might become a thing, and I can't decide if I'm repulsed by it or not so we'll just leave that there and maybe delve into it another time.

Ressler was the only one that Liz could turn to after the Renard attempted kidnapping went south. Liz knew she could depend on Ressler but also knew she had to tell him the whole truth in order for him to help her which he was more than happy to do because of the aforementioned romance in waiting.

Everything he's doing, including lying on the stand, is because of his feelings for Liz.

His performance on the stand was beyond odd. Even Red knew that Ressler knew something he shouldn't have.

The problem with Ressler picking up the identity quest is that he's not going to waver too much on finding the truth, and he's going to be much more relentless about it.

He doesn't have the emotional attachment to the issue like Liz did.

Besides, Ressler's curiosity is seriously peaked, so Red's huge identity headache isn't quite over.

Out for a Drink - The Blacklist Season 6 Episode 9

And it may be that Red is done hiding the truth of who he really is and why he took on someone else's identity. As mentioned earlier, his testimony about Katarina was moving and emotional.

It was difficult for him to get the words out at times, but he laid his soul out for everyone to see. It was probably the most vulnerable that we've ever seen him.

There was a lot to digest in this two hour Blacklist night and not all of it sat very well with me.

What about you?

What course will The Blacklist take now that Liz is back on #TeamRed? Will Ressler pick up the reins?

Will Dembe eliminate Liz?

Liz

Liz: So you know who the real traitor is?
Red: Someone I trusted as is the traitor who turned me into the police.
Liz: Have you found out who that is yet?
Red: Someone close. Traitors usually are.
