Cosgrove: What is this, 1954? Kicking a kid out because you think he CHOSE to be gay?
Bernard: Crazy. But it's still a thing in my community, especially among religious folks.
Cosgrove: I don't get it.
Bernard: Get what?
Cosgrove: People. Black people. Here you are marching in the streets for police reform, all these progressive causes. But if your kid turns out to be gay, he needs counseling. You need to make him right with God. If you ask me, that's what you should be marching about.
Bernard: You're right. But don't act like your people are much better. You can't have premarital sex, for God's sake.
Cosgrove: Reason number 36 why I don't go to church anymore.

Mama always said if you see something in the street, leave it alone.

Bernard

Dixon: What's going on?
Suspect #1: None of your business.
[Dixon pulls out her badge] Dixon: Actually, I have all sorts of reasons that it is my business.
[Suspects start walking away.]
Dixon: Stop.
Suspect #1: You have no right to tell us what to do.
Dixon: Actually, I do. Now stop walking or I'll arrest you.
Suspect #1: For what?
Dixon: For being a punk. And I'll arrest you for being an accomplice. You think you're so tough, picking on someone who's down on his luck. Pick on me instead.
