Anissa: Wow! Okay, did you ever stop and think about why she was talking to Khalil in the first place? Hmmm? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that, I don’t know, you and Mom never let her out of the house, that you treated her like she was some kind of prisoner?
Jefferson: Wait, we didn’t treat her like a prisoner. We were trying to protect her.
Anissa: No, you were trying to control her! You act like she was some kind of freak or a monster. All your rules, your quotes, and all your focus was too much, Dad! Too damn much! You drove her away, just like you did me.
[She slams the door behind her]
Perenna: Jennifer’s powers are extraordinary, and I don’t say that lightly.
Lynn: She’s just like her father.
Perenna: No. Jennifer’s powers are beyond anything any of us have seen. Teaching her to control them has been both a joy and a challenge because I’ve never worked with anyone with gifts like that. Which is why I must caution you.
Lynn: What are you saying?
Perenna: I understand you’re upset and I understand you want your daughter back, but you must be very careful. If you push her further away and she retreats with her powers, with no real support system and no guidance, there will be consequences for us all.
Khalil: You like Caviar?
Jennifer: Caviar?
Khalil: Tobias told me, “You never forget the first time you can afford to eat Caviar.” Jen, you deserve a guy that can give you that.
Jennifer: Okay, where is all this coming from?
Khalil: Actions have consequences.
Jennifer: What are you talking about? You’re really starting to scare me.
[Tobias calls Khalil, but he screens the call]
Khalil: He’s not going to stop. Not until I kill Reverend Holt...or until he kills me. But I can’t, I don’t want to be like him.
Jennifer: Then don’t be.
Looker: Wake up!
[She taps Jefferson awake]
Looker: I need to know where the other baby is. Hmmm? You have to admit the irony is amazing. You getting electrocuted.
[They shock him and turn it off]
Looker: Where’s the baby?
[Looker’s connection power manifests]
Looker: The baby ... I can sense her. Let’s go! Flip the switch again; leave on it on until he dies.
Anissa: Are you okay?
Jefferson: Damn...
Anissa: What?
Jefferson: Let’s just say, someone clearly drew a line in the sand.
Anissa: Well, maybe you should turn back?
Jefferson: No. What about the baby?
Anissa: You are always telling me to be strategic and not stubborn. Now I’m telling you, you are not safe going after them alone.
Jefferson: What the? A silver liquid. It’s moving on its own.
Anissa: I think it’s from Looker.
Jefferson: Wait, what is that?
Anissa: This woman, Dad, the babies’ mother told me about. Now, Aniyah says that this silver liquid is like a part of Looker, and she can put it inside of people and make them “Sanjay.”
Jefferson: Make them what?
Anissa: Sanjay. Like her slaves, basically. She also said that this element ... it gives the Sanjay more speed and strength than regular folks.
Anissa: Aniyah said she showed up in South Freeland about 30 years ago.
Jefferson: Thirty years ago? So she might be one of the original kids infected by the vaccine.
Anissa: So, she’s just like you?
Jefferson: Well, no, I wouldn’t say just like me, but, yeah. Wow. Sounds like I may not be the only vaccine kid out and about.
Jennifer: Okay, if we’re being honest, it wasn’t your fault those kids died. But technically, as the person in charge of the facility, it was your responsibility to keep them safe. So once again, even though it was not your fault that they died, they kinda were your responsibility. You get what I’m saying?
Lynn: Wow ...
[Lynn gets up to go]
Lynn: Thank you for your honesty.
Jennifer: I’m sorry you have to deal with all this alone. Hey, we’ll figure it out.
Khalil: Yo, why you even giving me the time of day?
Jennifer: This whole Painkiller thing is not you. We’ve all been through a lot. Plus, I don’t want you to make any more mistakes ‘cause you made some bad decisions this year. Like, really bad.
Anissa: Look, I’m sure I’m selfish for just popping by like this, but my uncle ... he died tonight. Yeah, it was unexpected, but it got me thinking. If I knew I only had one day to live, who, besides my family, would I want to spend that day with? I only came up with one name: you.
Grace: What do you expect me to say to something like that?
Anissa: I don’t expect you to say anything.
[They kiss]
Anissa: Thirty-eight weeks! Aren’t you excited that it’s almost over?
Aniyah: Actually, I’m terrified. What if I’m not good at it? What if I’m not built to be a mother? What if I just screw up?
Anissa: Listen, take it from someone who has amazing parents: doubting and questioning whether you’re good enough to raise children, all great parents do that. You’ll be great.
Lynn: What’s happening?! The simulations!
Dr. Jace: I told you what you needed to hear. Fourteen of the vaccine kids WILL survive. Inaction would’ve killed them all. You should be proud of yourself. You’re a hero!
[Lynn slaps her]
