Recap

The Cybermen invade the streets of London, old friends come together and whether the UNIT can contain Missy is called into question on the season 8 finale.

A Cyberman wants to kill Clara. She tries to say she's important. The Cyberman says she's wrong. Clara Oswald has never existed. She's The Doctor.

The Doctor and Missy are outside and he's freaking out as people take selfies with the Cybermen. A girl offers to take a photo and it's someone The Doctor knows. The Cybermen don't like being told what to do. The Cybermen take off and then the top of St. Paul's Cathedral opened up and emptied out 91 other Cybermen. One Cyberman for each of the major cities in the world. One of them exploded, pollinating, apparently.

Seb admits that they're not in the afterlife, let alone the Netherworld. It's a data cloud. They're going back to their bodies.

While Missy and The Doctor are arguing, UNIT ops stick both in the neck. Just before The Doctor goes under, he says to check the graveyards. It's now raining on the graveyards and the infected water is flowing all about.

Kate takes The Doctor on board a plane that even features a photo of her dead father. The Doctor has been named The President of Earth.

Danny is a Cyberman and he saves Clara.

Missy knows where Gallifrey is. It's not lost.

The public are being asked to stay away from all cemeteries. That's where Clara wakes up. Right in the middle of one.

The dead start rising, as Cybermen.

Missy tries to get the gal with asthma to come close, and of course she does, in the hopes of impressing The Doctor.

Missy tells her she'll be dead, and does it after singing and laughing and even counts down for her. Then she's dust. Missy stomps on her glasses and enjoys the trip.

Clara discovers Danny is the Cyberman to whom she is telling that The Doctor is the most important person in her life. He begs for her to help him. He can't do it himself. He needs her to switch on the inhibitor that deletes emotions. He doesn't want to feel like this.

Missy admits she was the one who gave Clara his number. That gives us a shot of Eleven in a flashback.

The Doctor won't help Clara because to help her inhibit Danny means he'll kill her. The Doctor won't help her commit suicide. Danny still wants her help.

Missy pops a whole in the side of the plane. Kate is sucked out. The Cybermen are inside the plane and all hell is breaking loose and Missy disappears. The Doctor escapes the plane, but is hurtling toward earth. Seb and Missy watch while The Doctor turns toward the TARDIS. Seb squeeeeees and Missy deletes him.

The Doctor goes to see Danny. He can help Danny, but he won't. If he does, then Danny will lose his ability to understand hurt. Except he can't remained turned off and see the hive. The Doctor needs to know. He doesn't want to do it. Clara can, however. She will activate Danny. He calls The Doctor a typical officer, keeping his hands clean.

Clara kills Danny again and Danny reports the rain will fall again, ending all of mankind. The Cybermen cannot be stopped. Scary Popping floats down, enjoying it all so much.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President. Missy gives the entire army of Cybermen to The Doctor as a gift.

Now we know why The Doctor was questioning whether he was a good man, a hero a good Dalek.

The Doctor and Danny work together to save the world. Danny sacrifices himself and rules the Cybermen to blow up in the sky.

Missy reveals the coordinates of Gallifrey -- exactly where it's supposed to be, the one place The Doctor never thought to look.

Clara intends to blast away Missy. The Doctor doesn't want her to. He tells Clara that he has no intention of letting her live, he's just not going to let her kill Missy.

Kate has fallen to earth, alive, rescued by her father.

Danny uses the bracelet not to save himself, but to return the boy he killed.

When Clara and The Doctor meet for coffee, he sees the bracelet on her arm and he thinks they're together and no more flying around. Except that's not what Clara has to say. In any event, The Doctor has found Gallifrey, and they're talking about that before she can say what happened with Danny.

The Doctor flashes back...he looked for it, but it wasn't there. He smashes the TARDIS.

The Doctor thinks Clara will have a life with Danny and Clara thinks The Doctor is going home. They hug, both hiding their faces and sparing each other the truth of who they are now.

Doctor Who Season 8 Episode 12 Quotes

The Doctor: Oh, don't do that. You look like you're self-concussing, which would explain all of military now that I think about it.
Col. Ahmed: Colonel Ahmed, sir. Privileged to meet you.
The Doctor: Love your outfit, Colonel Ahmed. Are you in the scouts? Are you a man scout? I didn't know they had those.

Clara: Clara Oswald is a cover story, a disguise. There is no Clara Oswald.
Cyberman: Identify.
Clara: Oh don't be so slow, it's embarrassing. Who could fool you like this? Who could hide right under your nose? Who could change their face anytime they want? Ha. See, I'm not Clara Oswald. Clara Oswald has never existed.
Cyberman: Identify.
Clara: I'm The Doctor.
