Warner Bros. Fires Charlie Sheen from Two and a Half Men

by at . Comments

First came the suspension. Now, we've arrived at the official firing.

In a statement released this afternoon, Warner Bros. officially let Charlie Sheen go, saying: "After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on 'Two and a Half Men,' effective immediately."

Over the past few weeks, of course, the star's behavior has gone from questionable to erratic to downright disturbing. Most recently, he released a series of Web shows titled "Sheen's Korner," in which he went off on "losers" and "trolls" and sounded like a man desperately in need of help.

No decision has been made yet regarding the sitcom's future, though producers have said they'd never continue it without Sheen at the center.

We could think of a few replacements, though. How about you? Should Two and a Half Men shut down for good now? Or is there life after Sheen?

UPDATE: TMZ has released the 11-page letter that spells out Warner Bros. decision to fire its leading man. In it, the studio says it has the right to terminate a performer who commits "a felony offense involving moral turpitude," cites Sheen's meltdown at the Plaza Hotel in NYC and says: "Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill."

UPDATE: It didn't take long for Sheen to respond to this move with: "This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension."
