@Meh – LOL at the irksome bit! @rationalgal: interesting thoughts on a possible Erica/RJ connection. I just re-watched the episode. The first time I saw it, it bothered me that Jane would be attracted to Erica because I couldn’t stand her character in the original episode she was in. She really irks me! ;-). However, having watched it a second time, I absolutely loved it. Can’t deny that attraction between the two of them. Lisbon’s reaction - she just hates to see that someone she admires greatly for his intelligence can be ‘taken’ by such a manipulative woman. Baker is such a superb actor. Glad that Sarah turned down Wayne’s proposal. I’m starting to warm to her character. Loved the Cho!!!

Jane was tapping his lips remembering the kiss, even though he may have tapped it before. The circumstances were different this time. This guy has been celibate for - what - 8 or 9 years? Finally kissing a woman had to be a big deal, as witness the after-kiss look on his face. Of course he was thinking about that and maybe about not being so celibate any more. How could he not? We'll see shen Erica shows up again. She will, and it will be sexy but not good news for Jane. Erica is too opportunistic and manipulative. Is she allied with Red John?

Let me (a shipper) say this once to the few Non-Shippers here: I'm really sad that you people put all of us shippers in the same pot and don't recognise that there are a LOT of shippers which enjoy this episode (like me!) and be happy for Jane finally kissing someone.
A lot of us (not all) KNOW that this ship only exist in our fantasie and that J/L are just friends on TV.
I'm a little sick of remarks like "the shippers irk me" or "...know that the average viewer is not a shippper. True fans love this episode."
We are not all that crazy but it's like you say: "look there is a shipper, must be crazy and look, there is another one, I don't know him, I've not even read anything by him but he is a shipper so he must be crazy too."

1. Sarah 28 weeks pregnant already?
2. The ending of this episode reminded me of the ending of Body Heat

There is chemistry between Jane and Erica. Simon Baker does expressions so well. I'm glad Sara turned Rigsby down. It would be a mistake for them to get married. Lisbon is jealous.

I'm glad Sarah showed some backbone and turned down Rigsby, and told him why right then and there. Rigsby still has feelings for Grace and she knows that. She will let him in the baby's life, but isn't stupid enough to think a marriage would work at this point. I'm liking Sarah a lot more.
I wonder if the writers are making Grace's anger go on to possibly have her blow up at some point. Cho needs more screen time.

I liked this episode, not the best I've seen, but good. It's almost a given that Erica Flynn will return. I think the actress did a wonderful job, but I'm not real big on this character going to jail, then escape, and repeating this through the duration of the show. I agree that no ankle bracelet in real life would have been stupid, but this is TV not real life.
I don't see the problem with Jane having feelings as a man, his wife died many years ago, do you expect him to be monk. I don't think Erica would be a wise choice, and don't think the writers would do that, but come on, its ok to have another relationship after a spouse dies. I'm not saying bring a date to his wife's funeral, but you should give him some slack after so long.

I hope that Bruno Heller and writers know that the average viewer is not a shippper. True fans love this episode. The episode was great. Baker and Bacarin were wonderful. Lisbon's attitude was a bit stupid. She slept with a jerk as Masburn.

Lisbon had an affaire with Masburn (an milonario with a mafioso behavior). Jane kiss a woman after 7 years I think is very chaste. And Lisbon is not left trying in any way, because so far Jisbon exists only in the minds of some fans.

This is the best episode so far this season and one of the best of the series. A masterpiece in writing and acting. Yes, the buildup and the kiss are hotter than many sex scenes. Even with the clothes fully on, Simon Baker is damn sexy. The looks on his face after the kiss are priceless. He so deserves an award.
Someone mentioned he tapped on his lips in the final scene. That's just what he does when thinking, not to remember the kiss. I'm pretty sure he is rather conflicted in the attic.
And finally, I'm pretty sure about this now: the shippers irk me. They are irksome.

I can't believe how Lisbon is treated but more importantly how she LETS herself being treated.
She's changed so much since before season 4 and not for the better.
It's devastating how poorly the writers handle her character.
Let her grow some backbone again!

@ rationalgal I don't think Jane remembered the kiss by touching his lips. It's a typical Jane gesture which we saw often in various episodes (Scarlett Ribbons, Little Red Book, Ring Around The Rosie, ... ) when he's deeply in thoughts about his next move. Flynn said on the telephon she were at "someplace warm" and Jane "I will find you" after that.
In my opinion, he has thought about were she is and how to catch her. It's a puzzle and Jane loves to crack a puzzle.

fortyseven says that Erica-Jane kissing scene was hotter than some sex scenes. It was better than that I saw it as more sensual than sexy. A beautifully constructed scene, right from the start with Erica shown with a double bed behind her. The kiss itself has a lovely esthetic sense to it. Jane's reaction was perfect in its mass of conflicting emotions. He does facial expressions SO well! I notice he then stooped to pick up his jacket. Obviously he had dropped it during the kiss. Was it because he was prepared to go further but managed to fight against that? Probably. Did anyone notice the camera work at the end? Shot from the outside of Jane's aerie through that dingy window with Jane touching his lips remembering that kiss. That camera shot was in Season 3's Red Carpet Treatment, where Jane opens the gift of a gun - and the episode ended in bloody violence. If this camera work means anything, will Season 4 end with something very sexual?

irene adler to sherlock holmes -- perfect analogy.
"blinking red light" and "war of the roses" definitely the best of the season.
I think the Rigsby/Sarah story arc needs to rapped up soon. They spent an entire subplot on the two of them and ended up at the exact same place as the last time we saw them: Sarah telling Rigsby he'll be a "good father" and walking away. I would've rather seen some more of Jane and Erica, peeved Lisbon, or interaction between Cho and Grace. Wayne is obvious the weakest character on the show and something needs to be done about that. Making him seem wussy next to his girlfriend is not the way to do it. Other than that though, really entertaining episode. I'm glad to see that there is a possibility of Erica popping up again in the future.

I'll admit that Erica not wearing an ankle bracelet was silly but other than that I liked the episode. I'm a Jane/Lisbon shipper at heart but they're just not there yet. I think Jane is attracted to dangerous women because he doesn't feel worthy of really loving someone again. And Lisbon had her fling with that millionaire last season. But I love seeing Jane and Lisbon get closer. They definitely trust one another more now and I saw Lisbon's jealousy and irritation as a good sign.
As for Erica, I love Morena Baccarin. There is something mesmerizing about her and I love that she and Jane are both very intelligent cons. I think the fact that she is a murderer is why Jane didn't end up in bed with her. Just my two sense.

Excellent. Highlights: Jane and Erica kissing is hotter than some sex scenes. The staring after the kiss? Wow. Wainwright approving Erica's release. Lisbon irritated by Erica. Grace saying she sees Erica's appeal. Grace still working on her aggression. Jane and Erica's banter and betting was great. Erica getting the guy to confess within a minute. Cho's deadpan response of "Cho".
Sarah and Wayne was a drag. No anklet on Erica was stupid but I'll excuse it.
The comments list of this review is the prime example of how shippers ruin the show fanbases. :)

Despite Jane's emotional trauma over the murder of his wife and daughter, this episode shows he still has the ability to respond physically to an attractive women. He seems drawn to manipulative women, including murderers. Maybe a case of one con artist relating to another. He surely knew that Erica would use her "furlough" to attempt an escape and that she would not only have a plan but a backup plan as well. So he allows (if he did not actually assist) her to work her plan(s), and smiled when Plan B worked. And this was a cold blooded murderer! Jane is going deeper and deeper into places that bode well. Erica will be back and Jane is no match for her. Maybe if Lisbon got more manipulative, he'd appreciate her and prefer kissing her instead of these femme fatales. We shall see.
