Diane Neal Returning to NCIS This Fall

by at . Comments

Diane Neal, who plays U.S. Coast Guard investigator Abigail Borin on NCIS, from time to time, will be playing her at least one more time this coming year. TV Line confirmed she will return in Season 10.

The Law & Order: SVU veteran, who can also be seen this summer on USA's Suits, first appeared in Season 7 of the CBS procedural as Leroy Jethro Gibbs' redheaded CGIS counterpart.

She's made several appearances since.

Gibbs, Borin and Abby

Neal's last visit came early in NCIS Season 9, when she assisted on a case - and in the team's hunt for a perfect match for Gibbs (the team and more than a few fans feel Borin herself would qualify).

“It is the most fun place to work,” Neal said of the show, listing Pauley Perrette, Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly as friends and calling leading man Mark Harmon “the nicest man in TV."

Also, "I get to have a gun! It’s also really fun because I play the female Mark Harmon.”

Hard to argue with that logic - and we're glad she'll do it again before long.

I don't think tptb really want to kill any of the team off. It's just that contract negotiations don't always work out. I can imagine possible problems for MW, SM and PP, as they've been on the show longer and yet make essentially the same or less (I think in one case) than CdP who came on board in the third season. Add to that they way these three actors have had their characters diminished and demeaned (in Tony's case) to make more opportunities for a dominent super Ziva, and I can understand where there might be some negotiation disagreements. I thoroughly enjoyed Diane Neal in the role of Abigail Borin and the chemistry between her and Gibbs. There is no reason to "kill off" one of the cast members to bring her onboard. She can replace Muse Watson...I miss that character more than any other we've lost.

She is ok. Just don't dump anyone off the show if you can help it. They are the best cast to work together in a real long time. They are the best.

Good to have you on board agent Borin!

I would love to see her with NCIS star Gibbs in NCIS season 10.

I think because of the age difference of Borin and Gibbs I was at first not keen to pairing them up. But now that I think about it more. I know that Borin would not try to change Gibbs like every other woman has tried and failed. She is too much like him and she would understand more in terms of where he is coming from and what makes him tick. I can see them together. It is the whole father figure thing, would make that pairing a little bit creepy.

I say Kill her off or have her replace somone

Bring on Diane Neal! She would be so much better for Gibbs than Jamie Lee Curtis was.

However they use Diane, she will be good. Just please, don't bring back that awful JLC! I just so very much want her to NOT return to NCIS, period.

I agree with those who think Borin would be a match for Gibbs . Gibbs needs someone to be a match to fill his void that was created with deaths of Shannon and Kelley. I belive Abby Borin could easily be that person. She's got real potential red hair and attitude too.

NCIS Quotes

McGee: Rule number 70 - keep digging till you hit bottom.
Abby: McGee! There is no rule 70.
McGee: Well, I--
Abby: You just made up a rule. This McGibbs thing has really gone to your head. I don't even recognize you right now.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
