Firefly fans will be happy to hear that, according to EW, Adam Baldwin will reprise his role as Detective Ethan Slaughter sometime during Castle Season 8.

Baldwin was last seen on Castle Season 4 Episode 21, “Headhunters,” which had Castle teaming up with the gruff, not-so-by-book detective while Rick was on the outs with Kate.

The details of Slaughter’s return are few, but Rick could be in need of a new partner now that Beckett’s moving into the Captain’s chair, or perhaps Captain Beckett needs someone to help keep an eye on the crass detective. Whatever the scenario, Baldwin is supposedly slated to appear early in Castle season 8.

Adam Baldwin previously shared the screen with Castle star Nathan Fillion in the long defunct but much missed sci-fi show Firefly.
