Shameless Season 6 Episode 3 Review: Ghost Your Baby

at .  Updated at .

Is it just me or did Fiona just have the worst week ever?

Shameless Season 6 Episode 3 was all about Fiona and her potential baby, but it's super clear that she's struggling to come to a decision whether to keep the kid or not.

Say what you want about Fiona, but she's tried her best with her siblings. Sure, there was a time when she let things get a little too out of hand, but she managed to pull herself back up. She treated Gus like crap and he's probably been waiting on her to pop back into his life to sing that ludicrous song.

However, it does take two to tango, and he did sweep her up from the dumpster after his friend tried to cheat on his girlfriend with her. She's by no means perfect, but the chick deserves a break.

It was a little bit of a shock that she confided in Sean about the whole thing, and his actions proved why she should be with him and not Gus. Upon hearing that a there's a chance the kid might not be his, he could have had a massive tantrum, but he continued to be the calm guy we know him to be.

It's your hormones. You leak from your face until the babies come and then you leak from your titties.

Veronica

He does keep Fiona grounded and has helped her through several tough times. The same can be said for her, but then again, he'd have no right to be pissed if the kid doesn't turn out to be his. He was pining for Fiona, and as soon as he knew she was choosing him, he wanted her.

Frank being thrown into the situation didn't help in the slightest. It's his motto that the Gallaghers don't abort children, but considering the way he was telling Debbie how to milk the system, it's clear his concern for babies is down to just how much the state will pay for them.

That's Frank for you. Historically, he's never really done anything off his own back. He relies on others, and when he doesn't get his own way, he acts as if the world has been bad to him. He must think he's won the lottery at the possibility of two children entering the family.

You go anywhere near Sean, I will set you on fucking fire.

Fiona

All he thinks about is money, and that's why he rented out the backyard to people from the neighborhood who have been made homeless by the way the town is rising in popularity among richer folk.

His plan doesn't appear to be working all that well since the Gallagher home has been served an eviction notice. Did this come straight from their crazy cousin, or did he sell the house from under them?

Knowing the way that dude acts, it's probably the latter. The whole thing came as a shock, but it sort of feels like a retread of a previous storyline. It's not always pleasant to go back over storylines, so let's hope this one ends pretty quickly. There's no shortage of people to give him hell.

Just because Emmy Rossum was given the bulk of the material didn't mean that everyone else was left out. Ian needed a break from Fiona and headed out to stay with Lip. I don't blame Lip for telling him he couldn't stay with him. It would be a totally different story if Lip had an apartment, but he has one room.

There's no way the two of them wouldn't get in one another's way. Ian was a bit rude about the whole thing, but what Lip has to remember is that his brother is going through a difficult time. He really thinks that his Bipolar diagnosis means he can't have a life.

His outlook on life will probably change a lot next week considering he saved a life. Might that have been the nudge he needed to get him out of his funk? I sure hope so.

"Ghost Your Baby" was another solid episode of this Showtime drama. The show never stops to catch a breath and life for these characters will never be smooth.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • The teachers in the school pulling out the guns in the canteen was downright hilarious. That was the last thing I expected to happen.
  • Kev won't be able to keep what he did from Yanis for much longer. He's already cracking because he knows it was wrong, but what will Veronica's reaction be when he does?
  • Can Gus just, like, never show back up again?
  • Did anyone else feel bad for Debbie? She's too mature for her age.
  • Carl's pursuit of the chick from school is BORING.
  • Frank's comment in the surgery about Fiona having both a boyfriend and a husband was so funny.
