Bones Season 12 Episode 6 Review: The Flaw in the Saw

at .

Every installment of Bones must open with some new way to show putrid remains and Bones Season 12 Episode 6 was no exception.

Going through the dumpster at a taxidermy shop was a new high, or low, depending upon your point of view.

The Lumberjack Games - Bones

I’m fairly certain they aren’t suppose to dispose of those animal remains in a dumpster. It’s a health hazard, not to mention disgusting. Can you just imagine the smell during the summer months?

You'd think after 12 years you could handle a little viscera with your oatmeal.

Brennan

Even though we’re into Bones season 12, I still have to look away. I’ve just never gotten used to the gore.

Phyllis’ murder allowed Hodgins and Rodolfo to play with chainsaws, and they couldn’t have looked happier about it.

I especially loved how Cam turned Rodolfo down at first. She’s been through this type of thing so many times with Hodgins that she was completely ready to side step Dr. Fuentes request, but in the end his persistence paid off…

And got him a chain cut to his leg. Ouch!

I can’t say I’d be running off to attend the lumberjack contest. Chainsaw, axes and extreme heights. What could possibly go wrong?

Let's just wait until she puts down that big chainsaw until we accuse her of murder.

Booth

That seemed like very sound advice on Booth’s part.

But Helga was the one in love with Phyllis and poor Ragnar was left completely in the dark. I almost felt sorry for the big guy.

Booth: Look Bones, if I were an 18-year-old punk, where would I be?
Brennan: Where the beer is.

And Gene was definitely a punk who enjoyed making fun of Phyllis, and getting the whole crowd to join in. He even got stacks of pancakes to throw at her.

It would have served him right if Booth and Brennan had made him pee his pants, but who would have cleaned it up?

And as juvenile as it was, Brennan explaining the biology of needing to pee while Booth made the water cooler bubble was one of the funniest moment of the night.

The other was listening to Booth and Brennan argue over him calling her Bones and someone misinterpreting the conversation. I can’t believe we haven’t had that happen in all 12 seasons.

Also, thanks to Brennan and this Bones quote, I’ll never be able to look at a golf club and not think of it as a golfing stick ever again.

Booth: Four years of playing golf and you're still calling it a golfing stick.
Brennan: It's a stick you use to golf, how is that not accurate?

Aubrey eating flapjacks was a sight to behold. That man loves his food, and I must admit that the thought of fresh made butter and bits of smoked cured bacon in the batter made my mouth water.

But Jack’s amiable personality was a give away to his guilt, and I really wanted to know to whom he sold that diamond ring and who would end up with it if they found it.

Then there were the words I couldn’t believe that Booth had the audacity to utter…

Booth: Don't you think it's good to not know how something works? C'mon, science takes the magic out of everything.
Brennan: It's not magic to begin with, it's just rules that govern the universe.

Did he really bother to ask that of Brennan? Has she ever thought it was good to remain in the dark about how something works…ever?

How could they not let us know who won the log rolling contest? That was so unfair.

Finally we get to Hodgins trying to find evidence to clear Zack.

Yes, Brennan went over the bones herself, and everyone has combed through the evidence, but doesn’t Zack recanting his confession mean they can go through it all again with new eyes.

I couldn’t believe that Cam would accuse Hodgins of planting evidence. I know that Zack was his best friend, but Cam has worked with Hodgins for years.

He’s certainly capable of letting spiders loose in her office or making Rodolfo go diving in intestinal goo to look for a skull that’s not there, but manufacturing evidence, even to save a friend seems a step too far.

Do you think Hodgins would falsify evidence to free Zack? Was Cam wrong to make the accusation?

Will we ever find out what’s wrong with Max?
