Alan Turing was a British agent who cracked the Enigma Code of the Germans in WW II by inventing the first "computing" machine.

I believe the reference is to Alan Cumming, who played Nightcrawler in X Men 2. It could have been a mistake of the writers', but since Archer is an idiot it also could have been intentional. So if you think if it that way, it still kind of works as a joke.

Alan Turing was subjected to chemical castration for the crime of being a homosexual in 1950's UK. He was an Ex-man.

So it'dve made more sense for Archer to have said "Doug Ramsey".

Elisha Otis was a guy who dealt with broken elevator cables.

Turing wasn't a character like Wolverine was in X-Men (that I remember). The joke was kind of a curve-ball; the only way Archer knows about Alan Turing is through his reading X-Men and Turing being referenced in the comic book, probably in relation to Cerebro.

I didn't get the Alan Turing reference but I did get the Elisha Otis reference because Otis is a four letter clue that turns up a lot in crosswords.

No, he's not from X-Men, he's just a famous computer scientist and cryptanalyst (it was in reference to Archer trying to get into the computer locked room). I think Archer just made the X-Men joke to seem less geeky for knowing who Alan Turing is. He clearly knew no one would know if he was or wasn't from X-Men if they didn't even know who Wolverine was.

Oh I forgot, was Alan Turing really in the X-Men? Comic or movies? I didn't get that reference. Anyone have more info?

The writers of this show are brilliant. It's funny when a show can teach someone a new thing or two. Now I know more about two new people that I never heard of before, Alan Turing and Elisha Otis. Absolutely fabulous show! I love all the X-Men related tidbits.
