The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Dead to Me"

Should we start with the cliff hanger or save it for later?! We say get right down to the business!

If you haven't read any of our spoilers, "Dead to Me" ended with a complete shock!

Someone very close to Melinda will die sometime soon - and how did she find out about it? Why through a Ouija board ghost!

Dead to Me Scene

I am a pretty superstitious person - being Catholic and definitely believing in spirits, made tonight's episode have quite some authenticity to it. Ask anyone who is Catholic - nothing good can come out of a Ouija board.

That was one of the main reasons why I had such a hard time believing the young dead girl, Madison, to be the one doing the foretelling of death. Perhaps she used it to her advantage, some of the time, but the Ouija board opens the doors for any spirit to come right in.

Who do you think it will be? It would be really silly for the writers to kill someone off and have them come back again like Jim did. Wouldn't that be like beating a dead horse? Been there done that and time to move on. If we had to guess - we would choose Ned. Ned's character really doesn't add much except access to the college library. He even said so this week - he has nothing special to add to the group. And it was his lame butt who brought the Ouija boards in in the first place!

Someone is Gonna Die on The Ghost Whisperer

On March 5, The Ghost Whisperer airs its 100th episode. This is a milestone for any series and will be highlighted by the fact that Jennifer Love Hewitt directs the installment.

But it will be pertinent for a storytelling reason, as well: a major character will die.

Producer P.K. Simonds shared this spoiler with Fancast.com in an interview this week. He said:

There’s a character, an important one, who is gonna die. Fans might want to start wondering who that is. I’m not sure they’ll be able to guess. And that takes us ahead to the home stretch.

There’s gonna be a reckoning between Melinda, her son Aiden, Eli and Ned and the book that they’ve been reading and their battle against the shadows. There’s a very big climax we’re headed to at the end of the season and everything is at stake. It’s all gonna come down to the lives of all our key characters being on the line – especially Melinda and Aiden.

It doesn't get much more intriguing than that, does it? Who do you think is gonna be killed off?

Ghost Whisperer First Look: Margaret Cho Guest Stars

On this week's all-new episode of The Ghost Whisperer, Ned's Occult Anthropology Professor is stalked by a secret admirer.

Naturally, because this is The Ghost Whisperer, the stalker in question is deceased. What will it take to solve the mystery? Melinda and a Ouija board.

Comedian Margaret Cho guest stars as the trouble professor. Get an early look at her on the CBS drama below:

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Living Nightmare"

It has been two week's since our last installment of The Ghost Whisperer. And we have to say we weren't that impressed with "Living Nightmare". To come back from a mini hiatus, we were expecting more and it was just mean of the writers to hint around about the Shadows.

Eli and Melind

The visual effects, we have to admit, were pretty cool. Who wants to get weird and freaky yellow eye contacts now? Better yet, I think I know what I will be this year for Halloween! Demonic Mrs. Northman? Check and Check.

In any case, I am not sure if it was just us, but were any of you also confused throughout the episode? First we thought that Robert really was being haunted by a demon. Then we couldn't tie in why his whole family was dead. It almost felt like they had to wrap the sixty minute episode up at the end and left us feeling slightly used.

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Blessings in Disguise"

The last couple episode's of The Ghost Whisperer really have had great life meanings behind them. On this week's episode, Blessings in Disguise, the main lesson we learn is to not run away from our problems.

Hey! We all do it and we all kinda believe that what we don't know can't hurt us, but really nothing could be father from the truth. There are many people who think ignoring, running away, or just plain lack of care will lesson the blow, but all these things do, is make the situation worse. (for clarification: not "The Situation" type of situation)

Until we learn how to stand up to what it is we are running from - nothing in life will ever change and believe you and me, it sucks. I am a firm believer in the band-aid method. Just let it rip and deal with the consequences right after instead of letting whatever it is hang around and getting stuck in the mud.

Digging for Truth

One part of the episode that I thought was a bit freaky was when the whole family had their faces blurred out. It reminded me of a real life version of the movie Caroline and if you have never scene it - I do suggest renting it (if you are a fan of super creepy movies that won't let you sleep at night). Yes, it is supposed to be a children's movie. Still, super creepy.

Back to the storyline, we really liked the family unity throughout the episode. Although they were running away from their problems, they were running away together as a family. Ohana means family, family means that nobody gets left behind. (Got to give that one up to Lilo)

We have yet to hear anything more about the Shadows and the Shining. Not a whole lot pertained to Melinda's family this week either. Aiden just made a mini cameo in her store. But, boy can that kid draw! Am I right? Or am I right?

Next week's preview looks super crazy! A bunch of dead Melinda ghosts? What is that? Until then, we leave you with a couple of The Ghost Whisperer quotes:

Delia: Seriously Ned, how many girls are you stringing around now? | permalink

Trevor: Tell Glen he was always right about family. I can see that now. | permalink

Katie: You move to so many places so many times you don't even know who you are anymore. | permalink

Delia: Who puts Walker down with the M's?
Melinda: An upside-down person. | permalink

NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife: Renewed for Season Two

It's not exactly a surprise when shows rated in the top 10 get renewed, but it's still worth reporting on when these are freshman dramas:

CBS has picked up NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife for a second season.

Both shows average over 13 million viewers each week, as the NCIS spin-off has already been sold into syndication just a few of months into its run.

LA StarMaking a Case

With their early renewls, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife join Glee, Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle as the only first-year shows so far to be guaranteed season number two.

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Dead Air"

Misinterpretations and assumptions happen every day to the best of us. This week, in "Dead Air" we see what could happen if we let our wild imaginations run away from our sanity.

We LOVE Jennifer Love and especially her character Melinda (and her oh soooo nonchalant way of telling people she speaks to the dead), and that is probably why we were so bummed that there wasn't more "family time" involved in this weeks episode.

Oh there was, of course, a brief moment of Aiden's creepiness that most definitely creeped us out for a minute or two, but other than that, the kid barely made any head way. Also McDreamy - errr- we mean McSteamy - oh wait! Dr. Clancy had maybe three lines in the entire episode. What gives?

We want to know more about the shadows! About the shinings! Patience is definitely one virtue we have a hard time with...

Pic of Melinda

Back to the storyline, The Ghost Whispererdid a great job putting a spin on the everyday man cheats on wife - wife cheats on husband theme. It did an excellent job at grabbing our attention on how well we all miscommunicate these days (we blame it on texting).

So our lesson we learned for this week? Stop jumping to conclusions! Have faith in yourself and what's to come.

(BTW - That was our Ghandi/Yoda moment) You're welcome.

More importantly, how great was it to see Dwayne Cleophus Wayne?! We thought he disappeared to A Different World or something! He's not looking too shabby either! Boy's still got it!

Okay, okay before we start to drool - here are a few of The Ghost Whisperer quotes we leave you with:

Bruce: (to Melinda about the light) Can you see it?
Melinda: No.
Bruce: But, you know it is there and that's enough. | permalink

Melinda: If you can believe in happiness the way you believe in bad things you will find it. | permalink

Melinda: Great Minds...! | permalink

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Excessive Forces"

Melinda's work seemed to carry much of the entire episode, but there was a couple cute scene's with her family. For one, her son Aiden is adorable - kinda creepy, yes, but nonetheless adorable. And the picture perfect family gathering by the new car with a big red bow on top - kinda had me choke back a couple tears, no lie..

Besides that, this episode was able to carry it's own weight. Who doesn't love a good "good cop gone bad" story? This definitely set the scene for some major unexpected scenes.

One minor non-related point to bring up - how great is it to look at a man in uniform? Ladies - am I right? Doesn't really matter if it is a cop, firefighter, sailor, officer or even just a hot shot mafioso type all suited up, dayum! And that Brotha sure knew how to work it. Did you get a chance to check out the back door goods?! Kinda gets us feeling a wee bit hot and bothered!

Ghost Whisperer Cast Pic

Okay, okay, back to the story line - "Excessive Forces" did have plenty of shock value, but nothing quite compared to the ole "let's fill the mailbox with cement to show those meddling teenagers a thing or two about smashing someones private property"...Wow - is all we can say.

Never expected that one coming...but it does serve as a very important lesson to all ya teenie boppers out there that may think riding around and smashing mailboxes is a cool thing to do.

We say, lesson well learned.

Before we go and until next time, we leave you with a couple of our favorite The Ghost Whisperer Quotes. Hope y'all have a spookactular night!

Melinda: Sometimes a hug is just what you need. | permalink

Eli: Hats off to Dylan. It takes a lot of cajones to date a cops daughter. | permalink

Jim: A field sobriety test? Is he drunk?
Melinda: No, he's just Eli. | permalink

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Lost in the Shadows"

Melinda's personal life is the main focus on this week's episode, "Lost in the Shadows". Aiden has the ability not only to see and speak to ghosts, but also the ability to see the Shadows.

Julia Miller is a little girl who recently died of leukemia. What is it with ghost children that give us the Hebe jeebies? I'd take a Michael Myers over this scary little girl any day.

Ghost Whisperer Promo Pic

Julia practically kidnaps Aiden to go to an abandoned train station. She gives us the insight that ghosts have feelings too and are very much afraid of the Shadows. But, who wouldn't be? What are the Shadows anyway? Do they represent daemons in hell? Too much to be uncovered still.

It is wonderful to find out that the Shinings are working on the "good" side. The fact that they are the reason Jim and Melinda were able to find Aiden in the first place only confirms their good intentions. We're already making Team Shining shirts now!

One part of this show that never ceases to amaze us is the clothing - err - lack of clothing Melinda wears. Did anyone else find it amusing to see her running about the house in that night gown? You're telling me after five years of marriage - with a child - she sleeps in a getup that looks like it belongs in the Southern romance novels? That's just great!

All in all we learn a lot more about the Shadows and the Shinings. Is it a fight between good and evil? Is the light really the final resting place for all ghosts? Please let us know your thoughts!

Until next week, we leave you with a few of The Ghost Whisperer quotes from last night:

Carl: Ghosts can't see the Shadows. | permalink

Professor Bedford: The girl/ghost is not what you are up against.
Eli: Who the shadows? | permalink

Melinda: I have a gift - and I can see ghosts. | permalink

The Ghost Whisperer Review: "Dead Listing"

Melinda had her hands full with a real estate power selling husband and wife duo when the husband, Kirk, dies. From the beginning of the episode, it is pretty clear that this guy is obnoxious. Because of that, he looks and plays the part of a realtor quite well.

Anyone who has had to deal with a realtor these days can understand what we're getting at - they are as smarmy as a used car salesmen. Sorry to all of you great Realtors out there - this guy def. gives off that impression...and his wife isn't that much better of a person either.

It's funny how relatable their relationship is to us viewers. Most of many arguments that come up in a relationship have not one, not two, but three sides - the third being the truth.

As it turns out, both of them were really just trying to make a piece offering - but ended tragically because of their narrow-mindedness. How tragic? Read our full review of the "Dead Listing" to find out!

Beyond the basic storyline, we come to find out that Aiden is getting help with his magic tricks from not only one ghost, but multiple. Melinda believes she has everything under control, but she has no idea how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Aiden shows us that the dead girl has a lethal past that she wants his help with, but doesn't want his parents to find out. This scene leads us into next week's episode which looks to be personally eventful for our heroine Melinda.

Until next week, we leave you with a few of our favorite Ghost Whisperer quotes from the hour:

Kirk: Rita mourn? Those tears are an act - that bitch killed me. | permalink

Jim: Yeah it's incredible - esp. since he can't read yet. | permalink

Melinda: Please stop calling him my body. | permalink
