The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 17 Review: Danny Castellano Is My Nutritionist

at .  Updated at .

Mindy Lahiri. Doctor, Girlfriend, Colleague, and, soon-to-be, Mother. Now back in New York City, Mindy is all, with one temporary road block – morning sickness.

On The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 17, Mindy spent a lot of time barfing in everything from a mailbox to the Bible. Danny made it his job to help her and their baby by having Mindy change something very important to her...her eating habits.

Everyone knows Mindy likes her food. Not the healthy stuff, but the sweet and salty snacks galore. I know that's what I would prefer. Danny, with the help of Peter (who keeps popping in from Texas), took charge. Side note: is anyone else confused on the Peter/Lauren relationship now that he is in Texas? He is more like a glorified stalker than a guy following his love.

It's crazy to think how far Danny and Mindy's relationship has come since the first "Danny Castellano is..." episode in The Mindy Project Season 1 Episode 5. Back then, Mindy was still an annoyance. Now, they're having a baby. Danny tried his best to change Mindy; even quit smoking himself (first by lying). However, it was more entertaining to watch Mindy secretly binge the bad food, scoff at the healthy food, and disregard everything Danny suggested.

Oh my God! It's my favorite kind of cake, gigantic.

Mindy

Even as they continue their banter, Danny and Mindy haven't changed and that is what I love about their relationship. The present version of the couple easily could've had these arguments at the beginning of the series and vice versa. It's what makes the will they/won't they TV relationship help, rather than hurt the show.

The sweetest moment of the episode was what brought them together at the end; both of their fears as future parents and how much they do and will rely on each other in the future.

While Mindy dealt with her morning sickness and healthy habits, Jeremy had to replace Peter. The issue came when Mindy got involved, as it usually does. She was thoughtful in helping bring on a perspective doctor, played by Vanessa Williams, but then made all of the doctors disappear.

Ironically, after Williams character didn't work out (a shame, really), the morning sickness found the new doctor. Yes, a doctor Mindy threw up on will be joining Shulman and Associates.

This episode was all around enjoyable, if only for the cute Danny and Mindy moments during the pregnancy, but I do miss Morgan the less during the story. He did have a bit with a red fedora, which Mindy got physically sick over, but I would enjoy more Morgan stories to keep me laughing.

Do you want more Shulman & Assoc. stories? Are you more curious about Peter in Texas? Will Mindy and Danny be able to handle the pregnancy?
