A revival series of the movie Tremors is actually happening.
This isn't another attempt to continue the franchise leaving one of the best parts of the original movie out, either. This comes complete with Kevin Bacon reprising his role as Valentine McKee, as well as executive producing the project.
This news comes six months after Bacon shared, "I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later." Wish granted.
Universal Cable Productions and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions are developing a new series based on the 1990 feature film and the drama will be written by Andrew Miller, who wrote The Secret Circle. We loved that show!
While the series is currently shopping around for a home, several outlets have expressed interest and are apparently bidding on the project.
While I would have laughed at the idea a couple of months ago, that was before Ash vs Evil Dead was released. Yes, even horror movies can have a successful and creatively enhanced life on the small screen, giving their leads plenty of room to grow in the process.
Starz has been doing a bang up job with Ash vs Evil Dead, so it would be great to hear they're in the running for Tremors. Wouldn't it be an awesome Saturday night in 2016 for Ash vs Evil Dead and Tremors to air back to back?
I'll also go ahead and say what everyone else has been thinking. Fred Ward did a fabulous job in True Detective Season 2 (hey, there was some merit to it after all). If they really want to pull out all they stops, maybe Earl Bass is ready for the revival, as well!
What do you think of the news? Are you ready for Tremors to hit the small screen?
