Everyone can admit the fake Canary persona didn't suit Evelyn Sharp too well on Arrow Season 4.
But Evelyn caught the bug, and Madison McLaughlin will be returning to Arrow Season 5 as the young woman who wants to help save the day. This time she has a new plan.
Beginning on Arrow Season 5 Episode 2, Evelyn Sharp will take up her own vigilante identity – Artemis.
So what's the story behind Artemis?
We can only go to the comics to get it!
Artemis was the daughter of Sportsmaster and Tigress (there's always a Tigress). They were villains.
Artemis was a member of the Injustice Society, so a bad girl, before a twist that came in the Young Justice series.
In that series, Artemis became the Green Arrow's sidekick after Roy Harper left the group.
Well, guys, Roy has left the group. So has the woman Evelyn first tried to imitate to avenge her parents' deaths, Black Canary.
Will Artemis really be a new member of Team Arrow with some permanence?
Roy was good intentioned when he first started as the red-hooded gymnast in the streets, but he had absolutely no focus.
I'd say Roy got into more trouble than not at first, and probably could have caused a lot of harm in the streets. Oliver saved him and put him on a different path.
Will he be able to do the same with Evelyn Sharp?
She's returning for multiple episodes, and it's likely that's open ended upon how well the storyline goes.
Did you think the character had potential?
Did she muck up her first chance at fitting into Team Arrow with her botched Canary attempt, or are you willing to let her in as Artemis?
McLaughlin joins other new cast members for Season 5 including Josh Segarra as Adrian Chase aka Vigilante and Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog.
