Scorpion Season 4 Episode 16 Review: Nerd, Wind and Fire

Did anyone else have the Santa Ana winds song from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in their head all during this episode?

On Scorpion Season 4 Episode 16, Valentine's Day was rough for everyone, but at least for everyone except Ralph, you wanted things to work out for the beary best. (sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

Seriously, what was with Ralph's attitude problem? It wasn't fun to watch. It made you want to punch him. Okay, maybe not punch him since he's a tiny child, but you get my point.

The Rooftop Rescue - Scorpion

Between saying that Walter already "had" Paige to what he was doing to that poor kid Jesse, Ralph was a jerk.

Yeah, it was entertaining to see everyone comment on the wrong math lessons he was giving and to try to steer him in the direction of not being a jerk, but Ralph never redeemed himself.

He somehow started to feel bad about everything, but there weren't any consequences to his actions. Patty never found out about his scheme, and poor Jesse was none the wiser to being taught incorrect math.

Paige should have found out.

Walter: Sabotaging a rival is never the way to do.
Ralph: Didn't you sabotage Mom and Tim's first date at the jazz festival?
Walter: I don't recall.
Ralph: And you put Tim in a tiny desk in the elevator and cut him out of Christmas picture.

As much as I love Walter and Ralph's heart to hearts, we're substituting those for moments between mother and son. Paige really needs to lecture Ralph about how men don't get women like some kind of prize.

The comparisons to Walter's behavior with Tim were a nice touch, but they didn't do anything to salvage Ralph's horrible attitude. There had to be a better way to utilize Ralph during this hour without making him into a jerk.

Also, it was nice to get a Tim shoutout in there. While I don't miss the love triangle, I do miss Tim. He could pop back in for a visit, couldn't he?

Walter's long-lost love song tape made a reappearance at just the right time. We haven't seen that thing since Scorpion Season 4 Episode 8.

As cute and funny as it was to see Walter's attempts at a successful Valentine's Day, Paige and Florence are the highlights of that storyline.

They have one of my favorite friendships.

It's great that instead of Florence acting super awkward or avoiding Paige after learning that Paige knows about the dream-kiss, Florence explained that there's nothing to be jealous of because she doesn't think of Walter that way.

We really didn't need there to be any more awkwardness in this friendship. We're trying to recover from all the damage Walter and his dream kiss did.

Florence opened up about her personal life and shared her romantic goals/dreams with Paige. This is not something you share with a random acquaintance unless you are an over-sharer.

Here's hoping Florence continues to spend more time in the garage.

Actually, it would be really interesting to visit Florence's lab. Something could happen to the garage that forces Team Scorpion to temporarily relocate next door in Florence's lab for some reason. It would be an eye-opening and hilarious experience.

Walter: Is that Ralph I hear? Can you tell him I really appreciate the accurate trigonometry calculations?
Sly: I'll be sure to pass that along.
Ralph: Is he making a snide trigonometry comment?

Plus, it would allow Sly to spend some quality time with Florence.

It's a big step for Sly to develop feelings for Florence. He hasn't even looked at another woman since Megan died on Scorpion Season 2 Episode 10. Wow, even thinking about it is making me tear up.

It's time that Sly sticks his toes back into the dating pool. He's mourned and honored Megan's memory in beautiful ways, and, as Ralph said, she would want Sly to be happy.

Who is more vulnerable than me? I get nosebleeds on escalators!

Sly

This has to go well for Sly though. Florence cannot break his hurt or let him down. I'm not emotionally strong enough for that, and neither is Sly.

Hopefully, Ralph will attempt to earn back our favor by helping Sly out with his crush. The sooner someone else from Team Scorpion uncovers this secret the better though. Do you think Florence and Sly would be a good fit?

Okay, we should probably talk about the case for a second.

It was a vast improvement over Scorpion Season 4 Episode 15. It was a case that you didn't need to pay too close attention to because the personal storylines were the focus, and it didn't take up that much time.

Walter: You want me to jump?
Sly: No, I want you to have the power to apparate like the teenage wizards in Harry Potter, but you don't, so into the wind you go!

Paige watching the news footage was a fun way to keep her in the loop when she was on the bench. It was entertaining watching her yell down to Sly. She was concerned about the team's safety, not that they would somehow screw things up.

Let's face it, this is a case that didn't necessarily warrant the Paige Dineen touch. If she was there, all she would have ended up doing was calming down the doctor and the pilot or trying to keep Happy and Toby focused.

It was more entertaining to watch everyone, including Paige, freak out and not worry too much about the mental state of the doctor and the pilot. Did you enjoy seeing Paige on the bench?

Walter: Fertility treatments are expensive. We thought you might need the help.
Toby: Guys, we can't accept this.
Sly: Well, it's not for you. It's for baby Quintis.
Walter: Scorpion takes care of each other.
Paige: Yeah, that includes the team members who aren't here yet.

What did you think of the episode? Team Scorpion chipping in for fertility treatments leave everyone a sobbing mess, right? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Scorpion Season 4 Episode 16 Quotes

I just can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with me.

Happy

Paige: How did it go at Elia's new factory?
Walter: Well the software installation was successful.
Sly: And by successful, he means no one was launched into space or taken hostage.
