Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Once Upon Ever After

at .  Updated at .

Relationships were hitting an all-time high on Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4, but not without risks.

I’m all about Jess and Bree bonding, but completely on Bree's side when she says they don't need to bother Trace and Abby.

It's always easy for Jess to run to Abby whenever there is trouble, but I am enjoying seeing her lean on Bree for once.

Bree and Jess - Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4

But David's sister is right about her family being controlling and they could certainly use some pointers from the O'Briens! They are turning out to be a family that is more concerned with appearances and their company than anything else. Including their children's happiness.

Okay, did anyone else have a genuine worry that Jess was going to break David's window? I was cringing with every bounce off the glass. But she does get some major kudos for her romantic side. Her boldness is never surprising but the dorkiness that David can bring out in her is always a pleasant surprise.

Jess and Bree playing Croquet - Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4

Jess and Bree went full country club with their yard games, sundresses, and floppy hats. But the quiche coming up seems to be an ultimate distraction topic for everyone! It definitely affected that croquet match!

It was a total low blow of David's mom to try and guilt Jess into staying with them because she felt it was what would be best for David. Then to bribe her with gorgeous gowns? Oy. Yes, it is Jess' idea for David to come home with her, but she isn’t pressuring him to do so. David is the one making a choice.

You say that you want me here, you tell David that you want me here, and all the while, it's to see if I'm good enough? Yeah, I might run a B&B, and I don't really know what an auberge is, and I don't speak French, and I don't play polo, and when you said "Gstaad" earlier, I didn't know it started with a "G", which is silly anyway. But I am proud of who I am, and where I come from, and who my family is, and while they're all nuts, and we have our problems, trust me, a ton of 'em, they love me, and I love them, and I don't need you to tell me I'm good enough, because no one is gonna put Jess in a corner. So, before I move into this fishbowl, I'm leaving!"

Jess

Jess' rampage after she found out the truth had me wanting to find a place to hide. Not that she can be blamed, but she’s terrifying when mad. This had to be the angriest she’s ever been. The fact that David's parents saw nothing wrong with what they did was more than a little frustrating

I’m completely in love with Abby being on tour with Trace! He absolutely performs better than ever when he knows Abby is standing backstage watching and waiting for him. Abby has stars in her eyes for her man, and anyone can see why!

Put Your Hands on My Shoulders - Chesapeake Shores

Listening to Trace sing is one of the best things about this show. Every time he performs, there is a strong desire for more! Abby seems to be in a permanent state of bliss with her man. Even though she feels out of her element and a little insecure as well.

Donovan was offering sage advice, and they were words Trace needed to hear. But Trace held his own and offered up some pretty sage advice about Donovan fixing things with his family too. Finding the balance between singing and being a family is definitely a work in progress.

Abby: Trace, are you gonna be happy without all of this back home?
Trace: We have cheese back home.
Abby: No. Without the thousands of fans screaming your name and the VIP treatment.
Trace: Abby, none of that means anything if I don't have you.

Trace once again proved how swoon worthy he is when he pulled out all the romantic stops for a quiet and beautiful evening with Abby. Only to have things go to hell the next day when a fan knew exactly who Abby was.

The  agitation for the paparazzi was already at an all-time high. I didn't think it could get any higher, but the pictures they took of Abby leaving blew my blood pressures through the roof.

Nell: Well, now here's a toast. To Robin and Thomas, for vows taken and worth taking again.
Megan: Here's to the O'Brien's love of making toasts.
Mick: And here's to raising spirits and the glasses that hold them.
Kevin: Dad, did you just make a toast about making toasts?
Mick: Yes, I did. I made it up.

That campfire scene, on the other hand, was swoon worthy. The amount of love in this family is cheesy in the best possible way. Things between Mick and Megan have my heart bursting. No one knows Mick better than Megan, and she's the only woman that can put up with Mick for any length of time.

Mick and Megan - Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4

All this talk of renewing vows and Megan doing so much to help with the ceremony had everyone feeling the love. The fact that her plans needed Mick and thst she had him in mind while making them had was beautiful. I’m with Mick, I wouldn’t have turned down her cinnamon roll bribe, either!

Seeing the bribes continue as Megan perfected her arch had me cracking up. The banter between these two has always been nothing short of pure magic and obviously true love. Is it cliched? Yup. Do I care? Nope.

Campfire - Chesapeake Shores Season 3 Episode 4

There have been times that I disliked Thomas, and times when he’s been bearable. But this is the first time he has ever been relatable, likeable, and sincere all in one. He and Mick dividing and conquering with Kevin and Connor was an impressive joint effort!

Connor: I object.
Nell: Overruled. Well, Kevin. Connor. Your job is to hang all these lights for the ceremony. Understood?
Kevin: I think that she's grounding us.
Connor: She's not allowed to do that anymore, is she?
Kevin: I don't know. Too afraid to ask.

Don't ever doubt the power of Nana! In typical Nell fashion, she uses every weapon in her arsenal to get Kevin and Connor working together, knowing they would be forced to not only talk to one another but to reconcile.

Kevin did his best to extend that olive branch that Connor rejected with some major hostility. It wasn’t clear exactly what had Connor so mad. Kevin saw something and told Connor the truth about it. Yes, it sucks and it’s understandably upsetting. But taking it out on Kevin is not the answer.

Seeing Connor change his mind on things and really take something out of his father's speech was such great character development. While he extended an unconventional olive branch to Kevin, things ultimately turned out for the best.

Things never feel right when these two are at odds and now that things are fixed, it feels as if all is right with the world.
