Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 2 Review: Man vs. Myth

at .

Poor Kyle just couldn't catch a break tonight.

On Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 2, Mike mourned the death of his father the best way he knew how -- by trying to ignore his feelings completely.

It really didn't come as a surprise to learn Mike would put on a show of being happy Bud passed on especially considering Bud wasn't the warmest father in the world. Mike's opinion made a lot of sense.

Heart to Heart - Last Man Standing

Bud didn't give Mike the nurturing childhood he felt he deserved but Bud changed his ways with the grandkids. It's a reminder of how people change despite how harsh they may have been in the past.

It was refreshing to hear everyone around Mike persuade him to not tell Kristin the truth about Bud. While we can all respect Mike's feelings, Kristin deserved to keep her own happy memories about Bud alive.

Of course, Mike ended up "seeing" his father in the garage and had a metaphorical talk with him. Mike has never been one to open up, emotionally, to those around him so it was understandable why he'd see his father.

Mike needed some way to get all of his feelings about Bud so he would be able to move on. It was interesting to hear Mike come clean about wanting to hear his father say he loved him.

Who else got teary-eyed listening to Bud and Mike discuss them both not saying they loved each other? Those simple words can make a huge difference. It was sobering to hear them both admit they wish they had more time.

It was another reminder to just speak up and let people in your life know how you feel. We sometimes take things, and people, for granted and just assume they know we care about them. It's the simple gestures which make a world of difference.

Case in point, Kristin bringing up Bud being her hero for a different reason. He was the first person she told when she found out she was pregnant and Bud made sure to let her know Mike would love her no matter what.

It was almost like Mike got one final message from his father in the form of Kristin telling her story. There was no way Mike was going to ruin the memories Kristin had of Bud considering Bud was there for her when she felt alone.

It was also letting Mike know Bud knew the kind of father Mike had become. Bud had a terrible father himself and to see his son love his children so much brought some joy into Bud.

Kristin And Mike - Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 2

Mike handing over Bud's business to Kristin and Ryan was such a smart move. Mike may have his own opinions about the business as a whole but it's time for Kristin and Ryan to spread their wings and start doing their own thing.

This also gives Kristin and Ryan a chance to provide even more for their little family while also learning the ropes of owning their own business; though you know Mike is going to have a hand in it as well.

Was anyone else not interested in the Mandy and Kyle moments or was it just me? I understood they were trying to add some comedy into an otherwise somber episode but it never caught my attention.

Kyle And Mandy - Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 2

Kyle is finally moving up in the business world and while I did agree he needed to dress for the job he wanted, he still needs to be himself. The various outfits Mandy was putting him were funny but not exactly laugh out loud hilarious.

At least Mandy was able to use some of her fashion skills to attempt to make Kyle stylish; though I was completely on Mandy's side about the whole fish tie. No one needs a fish tie in their wardrobe. Let's hope she threw it away.

We all knew Kyle would be in an even more ridiculous outfit by episodes end, right? There was no way he was wearing a nice suit and tie. You could see the gag coming from a mile away and were just vindicated when Kyle stood up.

I will say I liked the new Mandy more tonight then I did in Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 1. It seemed like she was way more comfortable and I saw some chemistry between her and Kyle.

Now it's time to tell me what you think.

What are your thoughts on the new Mandy? Do you think Mike will help Kristin and Kyle with their new business? What do you hope to see this season with the family?
