Mischa Barton has booked her big TV return, and it's very different from what one would expect.
MTV on Wednesday confirmed that the actress will be part of the cast of its revival of The Hills.
The new series, titled The Hills: New Beginnings is slated to debut in 2019.
Barton is probably best known for her role on The O.C. as the troubled Marissa Cooper.
Though she has had roles on the small screen since her exit ahead of the final season of the teen drama, this is probably her highest profile stint since.
Well, she did appear on Dancing With the Stars around the time it stopped featuring actual stars and opted for Z-listers.
Kaitlynn Carter, Jennifer Delgado, and Ashley Wahler are also among the new additions to the cast.
They join a cast that includes original stars Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Frankie Delgado, Jason Wahler, Justin “Bobby” Brescia, Stephanie Pratt and Whitney Port.
MTV confirmed the revival in August with a promo that ran during the Video Music Awards.
The return was widely expected given that cast members of the series were telling fans to tune into the awards show for a special announcement.
“It’s like we’re all growing up. It’s weird," said Stephanie during the promo which showed footage of Los Angeles.
The Hills aired from 2006-10 and was an instant hit for the network. There was much speculation about whether the show was fake, and the final episode implied it was.
The final scene implied it was filmed on a set with a whole production crew emerging.
Was it a nod to the rumors? We have no clue, and we're not sure New Beginnings will answer that question.
If the juicy drama is anything like the original series, we are so in!
