It was just days ago that Fox confirmed The X-Files and 9-1-1 would debut on Wednesday nights in January, and now, the network has confirmed when we can expect two of its midseason shows to debut.
New medical drama, The Resident, will launch on Sunday, January 21 at 10/9c out of the network's coverage of the NFC Championship game. This will give the show a robust lead-in in an attempt by the network to provide the series with decent sampling.
It will then resume its freshman run on Monday nights from January 22. It will replace The Gifted, which wraps up for the season with a two-hour finale on January 15.
The Resident focuses on what really happens in hospitals across the country following a group of doctors finishing their training.
It stars Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Manish Dayal (Halt and Catch Fire), Moran Atias (Tyrant), Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY), Bruce Greenwood (The People v. O.J. Simpson), Merrin Dungey (Alias) and Shaunette Renée Wilson (Billions).
The series will be paired with Lucifer which still has a lot of episodes left to air of Lucifer Season 3 after four were carried over from Season 2.
Meanwhile, new comedy series, LA to Vegas will take up residence on Tuesdays effective January 2. It will launch in The Mick's slot, and the sophomore series will move back 30 minutes.
That also means that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be going on hiatus after its fall finale on December 12.
The series follows the airline crew and the passengers who take a trip from LA to Vegas with the aim of returning home a winner.
It stars Dylan McDermott (The Practice), Kim Matula (UnREAL), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), Nathan Lee Graham (The Comeback), Olivia Macklin (The Young Pope) and Peter Stormare (Prison Break).
