Becky brings Beverly Rose to class when she has no child care. Her professor, Professor Glenn, isn't angry as she fears. He is great with her and makes Beverly Rose his mini teacher's assistant. Becky ends up with a crush on him.

When Becky realizes that her professor may have a crush on her too, Jackie thinks Becky should drop the class before anything happens between them. Becky confronts Glenn and confesses that she has feelings for him and will drop his class. He admits to having feelings for her but that she can't drop the course as he's the only person teaching it. They decide to go out to dinner at an out-of-the-way restaurant to discuss their options.

Mark hates being back in public school, especially after telling people off before he left for a magnet school. Darlene finds $500 in cash hidden in Mark's room. She thinks he's selling drugs to make money to go to college.

Mark is actually writing college admission essays for other kids from his former magnet school. A father of another student shows up to complain that Mark wrote two similar essays for his daughter and another kid. He says he paid for the essay, not his daughter, and wants a new one. If he doesn't get one, he threatens to go to the principal and get Mark expelled from school.

Darlene is furious. She tells him Mark is no longer writing any essays and that if he tries to retaliate, she'll start contacting colleges to make sure they know that his daughter is paying for her application essays. Mark is surprised that his mother stuck up for him. 

Darlene finds a possible way for Mark to get a scholarship. Many schools are looking for someone to play the contrabassoon in their orchestra. If Mark can get good at it, between that and his grades, it could earn him that scholarship. Mark says he's game.
