Dallas Season 3 Episode 15 Review: Brave New World

at .  Updated at .

Did they really just do that? The promos forewarned that a member of the Ewing family would die in Dallas Season 3 Episode 15 but Christopher Ewing was never a name that made my list. I really thought Ann would die but that wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic as watching Christopher's car blow up with what I can only assume was him inside.

I say "assume" because we only saw him enter the car from behind. We never saw his face but it certainly looked like him and with all the hype about a Ewing death I can only believe that it's true.

As a long time viewer of the original series I find the thought of Christopher's death heart wrenching. Even though he has never been one of my favorite characters of this new series, I can vividly remember Bobby and Pam adopting (or should I say procuring) Christopher as a baby. One of the joys of this series is that I feel so connected to characters that I grew up watching.

But let's back track to the rest of this amazing finale…

I had little doubt that Bobby would choose Emma to be set free. It's what Ann would have wanted but having Luis free Ann instead was a great twist.

Back at Southfork, Bobby tried to console Sue Ellen who was gazing longingly at a bottle of bourbon…

No gun toting terrorist has ever gotten the best of a Ewing yet. It's not going to start today.

Bobby

It reminded me of the early days of the original Dallas when a couple of gun toting bad guys held everyone hostage on the ranch to get back at JR. They all made it out alive that time. I wish we could say the same now.

Watching Emma try to escape was quite entertaining. The girl was cool under pressure as she used everything from her hair flip to her seductive gaze to try and find a way out. Unfortunately, it all went horribly wrong when Luis cornered her in that bathroom. Emma may never be quite the same.

It's hard to say if anyone else realizes what Emma went through but Judith figured it out and John Ross knew the moment he saw her. it turned out to be even more of a reason for this unlikely duo to work together.

Once again, kudos to Judith Light whose Judith Ryland went from a broken woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown back to the powerful diva who just became Railroad Commissioner in the span of two hours. Every moment she was on the screen was riveting.

John Ross' rescue mission only seemed to make Pamela all the more angry as she told Elena in this Dallas quote

Luckily John Ross' heart is too small for a bullet to find it.

Pamela

She seemed to be taking her bitterness to a whole new level by sleeping with Nasir and stealing the company right out from under John Ross…or at least trying.

Despite his harsh words, John Ross looked truly heartbroken. He can't blame anyone else for the mess he made of his marriage but I think he really did love Pamela. But with Bobby and Sue Ellen back in charge at Ewing Global, Pamela seems as angry as her daddy when she declared the Barnes/Ewing feud back on. Does this mean she'll let Cliff out of his cage?

All season long I'd been rooting for John Ross and Pamela to find their way back together but after these last two episodes, I'm actually interested in seeing what  he and Emma could do as a team.

And who do you think John Ross' sister could be? My first thought was that it was the child that JR fathered during his short marriage to Callie. I can't seem to remember if we ever found out if she had a boy or a girl after leaving Dallas. Of course JR certainly bedded his share of women over the years. The mind reels trying to figure out which mistress could have given birth to his daughter.

But when Bobby crowed to John Ross that…

In a lifetime your Daddy never got the best of me and he was twice the opponent you'll ever be.

Bobby

I couldn't help but think that Bobby's ego had gotten a little too large for his own good. John Ross had finally had enough of the put downs and the comparisons as he told his uncle, "I am not just like my father. I'm worse." If that's the case, they really should be scared.

Elsewhere Nicolas turned out to be more formidable than I ever expected. I couldn't believe he was able to escape as Elena shot him twice in his penthouse. And even with two bullet holes in him, he still swore he'd protect Elena. Then moments later Christopher walks in and promises he'll take care of everything.

What is it about Elena that inspires such devotion and protectiveness? Maybe it's because I'm female but I really don't see it.

It was no surprise to find out that Elena was pregnant. Nicolas seemed pretty sure that his little swimmers did the deed since he's well aware that Elena also slept with John Ross.

But as we watched Elena walk toward Christopher's car, it was obvious what was about to take place. If Christopher Ewing is really dead, will Elena ever forgive herself for bringing the cartel into their lives with her plan for revenge?  Will Bobby survive losing his only son? And do you think that Christopher Ewing is really dead?
