It's heist time on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 16!

For the first time in history, the precinct's heist didn't take place on Halloween. But as it turns out, that was all part of the winner's elaborate plan.

The heists are one of the many highlights of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and each one is something viewers look forward to every season.

Figuring out the winner of the heist is nearly impossible, as each person's plan is so elaborate that it is hard to keep up.

This year however, it was a bit easier to predict the winner. But that didn't make the "how" any less interesting or Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 16 any less entertaining.

Golden Terry - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 16

The moment that Jake proposed the idea of a heist to take Terry's mind off of his lieutenant's exam it appeared as if something was in the works.

The squad making fun of Terry for believing he could win, automatically made him the underdog. In addition, he was also betrayed by Jake not once, but twice, and appeared to be the most gullible of the bunch.

Terry: Maybe I'll win this year!
Holt: Aw, the heist is already working. Sergeant Jeffords has recovered his sense of humor.

But as we have learned from past heists, the underdog is always victorious. Therefore, Terry was front and center on our radars.

Holt didn't believe Jake could actually win on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 1, and no one even considered Amy or Gina as actual participants in the heist on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 3 and Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 4

To be fair, the best heist was undoubtfully Jake's proposal to Amy on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 5. And while the squad may beg to differ, there was no real winner.

Well, except Jake because he got to marry Amy Santiago.

Amy: I would love to defend my crown after I destroyed you all last year.
Jake: Well, I mean, the proposal was all part of my plan.
Amy: All I remember is you bowing to me on your knees.
Jake: Yeah, I was asking you to marry me.
Amy: Well, you looked like a fool.

After years of Brooklyn Nine-Nine getting one over on us, it seems as if we've finally cracked the code. The winner of the heist is always the person who isn't seen as a threat.

But all that does is give the show the chance to take us for another spin and prove everything we think we know is wrong.

Kevin's compliance in the heist put a new spin on things. He didn't want another trophy to be hung up in their house, so he went out of his way to sabotage his own husband.

And we can't forget Chedder's involvement. Can Chedder please be the next ultimate human/genius? Or ultimate dog/genius?

Terry deserved a win and we're glad that he finally got one. But everyone knows the moment the heist ends, the squad is already making plans for the next one.

To Terry Jeffords, the ultimate human/genius.

Holt

Now that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been renewed for a Season 7, we're excited to see what they have up their sleeves for the next heist. As Holt stated, it's only six months away in the show as it will be taking place on Halloween.

The only two people who haven't won the heist are Rosa and Boyle. It makes sense for one of them to finally take the crown, but that also seems a bit too predictable.

It might be an interesting idea for Brooklyn Nine-Nine to go with the person that everyone suspects the most, now that we know it's always the person that we suspect the least.

Or as Dwight Schrute said, maybe it will be the person we most medium suspect. Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Office are both Schur shows, so they're in the same vein.

Suprisingly enough, the best part of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 16 wasn't even the heist, but Terry's news that he had passed the liutenent's exam.

I took that thing weeks ago, and I passed! I'm already a lieutenant!

Terry

Terry's been a sergeant for the entire show, so it felt right that he finally moved up. A lot of the other characters' careers have been highlighted at one point or another, and it feels as if Terry's hasn't really been acknowledged.

Holt and Amy both got arc's revolving around their own promotions (or lack thereof), so we're glad that Terry got one as well. Hopefully, we'll get to see Terry's new role at the precinct and how he takes to it.

Stray thoughts:

  • Scully's twin brother was an interesting character to add to the show. Given that the two have a very rocky relationship, is he someone that we'll see more of in the future?
  • Can we talk about how excited Jake was for that split second when he thought he and Amy were having a baby girl? It appears as if Jake may finally be ready to be a dad and we couldn't be more ready for a Peraltiago child.
  • The squad may have worked in teams before, but it looks like teamwork is officially off the table. Everyone wants the win for themselves and aren't willing to share the glory.
