Dan and Louise have to cancel their honeymoon because there's a hole in the roof. Becky gets Dan and Louise virtual reality goggles so they can travel on a virtual honeymoon, but Dan becomes so obsessed with it that Louise worries.

Finally, Dan admits that he prefers the virtual world because he can't afford to take his wife on a honeymoon in the real world, and she deserves better. Louise reminds him that she has fun with him no matter what they do, as long as it's together.

Darlene tries to talk to Harris about Aldo, her much older boyfriend, but Harris blows her off. Then, Melvin and Marvin, Aldo's kids, show up at the Conner home, where Harris packs them lunch and takes them to school. Their mother is a drug addict and isn't allowed to watch them. Darlene is upset that Harris appears to be taking on so much responsibility for someone else's kids.

Darlene and Jackie visit a new age bookstore/vegan restaurant. Darlene runs into Gale, with whom she went to school. He now goes by the name River. He owns the bookstore. Darlene looks for answers in Eastern philosophy to help her get Harris away from Aldo.

Darlene decides to seem supportive of Harris and Aldo moving in together, hoping that Aldo will balk, but he's actually thrilled. When Darlene shows her hand and tells Harris what she was doing, Harris is furious with her mother. Later, Darlene goes back to the bookstore where Gale/River gives her the Tao de Ching to read because it helped him live a better life.

Becky realizes she can't have Beverly Rose at work now that the Lunch Box is a sports bar. So she asks Emilio for help. Emilio tells Becky that he has a new girlfriend, Gabriela, whom he's been exclusively dating for three months, and that Gabriela is happy to help with Beverly Rose too.

Becky is conflicted over Emilio dating someone. Dan points out that she thought of Emilio as her backup plan if she couldn't find anyone else. Becky says she won't marry anyone again if she's not in love, but she needs to be sober for an entire year before she begins to date again.
