Logan's mom, Helen, is sober now. She's asked Neville for a job at the vet clinic so she can start taking care of Logan again. Jackie is thrilled because she thinks this means she can finally have some alone time with Neville. Then she meets Helen, who is beautiful, blonde, and much younger than Jackie.

When Jackie learns that Neville and Helen were engaged in college, it stirs up all of Jackie's insecurities. Neville brings Jackie flowers to apologize for not telling her about his history with Helen but assures her that it was 20 years ago and he loves Jackie now.

Then Jackie hurts her ankle while trying to outdo Helen playing basketball. Jackie has to stay home but encourages Neville to take Mark and Logan out to dinner with Helen. But once they leave, Jackie smashes the vase with the flowers with her cane.

Darlene and Nick spend the night together for the first time. The next day, the fuse at the book store goes out, and they head to Olinsky's Hardware store to buy one because Darlene believes it is Ben's day off. Turns out Ben and Dan swapped days off. Ben and Nick meet, and Ben invites Nick to meet up at the Lunchbox to watch a Bears game. Nick accepts and invites his friend Heather to meet Ben since she's just gotten over a bad breakup.

Things get very uncomfortable as Ben and Darlene fight in front of the others. Heather ends up leaving. Ben and Darlene rehash their breakup and blame each other for wasting so much of their lives. Nick realizes that Darlene isn't completely over Ben and breaks up with Darlene.

Back at the Conner's house, Ben stops by. He and Darlene bicker some more, but he still remembers her vegan hangover cure and offers to make it for her.

Harris swings back by the Conner's house, where Becky gives her some bills that have come for her in the mail. Harris throws them in the trash.

Louise is on tour. Instead of waiting for Becky to help him redecorate his and Louise's bedroom, Dan buys an old waterbed with rainbow-striped pillowcases and tie-dyed sheets. Becky lies down on the bed, which is comfortable, but can't relax long because Beverly Rose has cleaned off her tablet in the toilet.

Later, Dan realizes that Becky never gets any time to herself. He tells Becky that she can sleep in his psychedelic-looking new bedroom, and he'll sleep downstairs and take care of Beverly Rose so Becky can really have a night of rest.
